Custom Double Rifle in Custom Cartridge

176 ft lbs of recoil at 21 fps? More than 2.5 times the ft lbs of my 10 lb 470NE with 500 grain bullets (67 ft lbs at 21fps)

Bottom line - Uncarryable, unshootable, unaffordable.

Hmmm. I'm not getting quite the same numbers as you, but yea I'll agree. Unshootable, will put anyone on their ass, nadda they can do about it.

Bullet weight in grains 1200
Velocity in fps 1900
Powder charge in grains 225
Weight of firearm in lbs 26.5

Recoil Impulse in (lbs sec) 14.11
Velocity of recoiling firearm (fps) 17.14
Free recoil energy in (ft/lbs) 120.93

I was speculating on the powder charge, and I think I used 1300 grains for the bullet weight (per the box image). Pathfinder said 17 rounds per pound which works out to (max) 411 gr. Either way you're going to develop a flinch.

I though a pound was 4000 grains so I stand corrected. 225 gr. per load - 7000 gr. per pound and now we have enough powder to make 31 rounds....enough ammo for 31 lifetimes :)

If it was offered to me to shoot at the range then I would be all over that. I would even pay for one bullet so I could keep the brass. Unless I need a loan for the one bullet.

That's not a rifle, its a field artillery piece. Nice gun but I think that I would rather let my friends shoot it and get some laughs out of it than pull those triggers myself.
