I work as a cabinet maker and I bought a laminate stock off of someone who had bubba'd a sks so no collector value was ruined in refinishing the stock, It was a refurbished laminated stock in good condition so I was able to leave all the markings on the stock, I Used furniture stripper for the old finish and rubbed it down in paint thinner and acetone to remove all the oils from the stock,. Next I custom mixed a translucent black water based stain which I sprayed on for an even coat. It came out a bit darker then I would have liked. After dying for a full day I gave it a coat of true oil a day for 4 days and now I want to give it a final coat of true oil and knock back the sheen a bit and apply furniture wax for the final finish .Here are a few crappy cell phone pics, I might up load more when its all done. Please share Your pics of your refinished red rifle stocks. Thanks

Nice work! I have two red rifles that need refinishing now one of which is my shooter SKS in laminate a stock. I'll be doing this type of thing soon!
