custom grips: Ruger MK.1 (many pics)

I picked up these handmade grips at the last Kamloops gun show, only to find them way too small for my hand, and the screw holes were for an earlier MK.1. I filled the holes with dowelling, and dremelled away quite a bit on the bottom and top of the right grip until it didn't hurt. It sure did before, to the point of pinching a nerve. Much better now, and I finished it with satin varathane:

Now those are some fine looking grips
I must have missed them as i went through that place in about 1/2 hour.I think i was the fith person in so i had a good running startThats what happens when you rush things.

You made a nice job of those, (but it would have been simpler to just give them to me for my MkI. )

I spotted them in the farthest arena, late on Saturday. Had to think about them a bit as they were so small, but eventually talked the guy down by ten bucks and took a chance that I could modify them. The seller wasn't sure what Mk. they were for, and neither was I, but sometimes a gamble works out!
