I got a lot of interest in the custom holster I commissioned from a local saddle maker for my 8.5" Dlask 870 in another thread, so rather than hijack that thread, I thought I would start a new one, heres the details:

Custom made to hold my Dlask 870, with wide shoulder tops to span the weight, fully adjustable sides, and back straps.

9 shell holder, with a rib of leather at the back to keep 3" shells from going to deep you can't get them in a "situation" with your finger tips.

Lower back strap (ignore the pics, I had the damn thing on backwards) to keep the gun from coming forward when leaning down to check animal tracks and such.

Swede inside on the sides to keep from sticking to the clothing, but the sholder straps are raw leather so they don't move and chaff up your back.

Drop strap (Adjustable) to keep it from hitting the dirt if you panic and pull the buttons off without a hand on the grip

Pumpable in the holster (at users own risk of course ;)

if you want a specific close up of the rig, let me know.

That is a pretty slick set up. Mind if I ask how much it cost you?

$300, but it was his first one, he said now that he's got a pattern, he can do them for $250 if more people are interested. I think of it as my custom bear spray holster. :)

Note that the lower back strap doesn't have to be on, but it keeps it from walking forward when you lean over.

Oh and I JUST adjusted it, thats why the loops are a bit bigger round, they flatten out after a bit.

I used my BRS-99 drop-leg holster for my Dlask 8.5 and it fits fine. I can take pics and post if anyone is interested in seeing the rig, it's a black nylon type material and the retention strap comes just under the trigger guard. It's snug enough to hold and because of the open design won't cause snags on the way out.
cheers though on the shoulder holster - that's a nice rig too!

It looks great. No bear is gonna mess with that armchair.

For walking around bear protection, I'm thinking a heavy winter jacket will create accessibility problems though.

Nice holster rig man!!! Thats some fine leather work!

Too bad the pistol grip is still a no-no for carry. :(

I would think that under a jacket.....concealed??? Regardless of what happens afterword, I imagine 5-0 would initially have serious issues with that being hidden from view. Still very cool though....I don't mean to rain on your zombie parade.

handgunner,
I'd be interested to see some shots, esp in regards to how it stacks up to tkv00's shoulder rig in the 'mobility' department. I'd heard about the BR mod, but have my doubts in regards to mobility issues. Don't have an 8.5" yet, but sure am waitin' for Can Ams next load...if it don't get shortstopped by Bill C10A..

Great job tkv000, that is one smokin' rig.

Its for carrying outside my jacket, and I didn't think the pistol grip made any difference yet...
