My wife enjoyed shooting my 12 guage, but thinks factory loads are too powerful for her. Generally I use 2 3/4" shells, and I think I let her fire the cheap Federal target load. (Oddly enoug she thinks the .303 British has the same recoil, just "less punch" - whatever that means).

Does anyone know of any shops in the Vancouver area that will do up a custom load (i.e. 1/2 or even 1/4 charge) for my wife to try out?

low recoil shotshells

Find either a Trap or Skeet shooter at you club that reloads. Lots of those guys shoot lite 7/8 and 1oz loads. I am sure they would be happy to load you some up.

What are you guys running for a recoil pad? I find a good Limbsaver type pad makes 2.75" full power buckshot feel like trap loads.

Try the Kick eze pads. I find the Limbsaver pads sticky and they are much harder to grind to size.

Pachmayr Decelerator for me. Works well, not as sticky as Limbsaver.

Remember, gun fit will affect recoil so a gun that fits your wife will recoil considerably less than an unfit gun.
