Custom Milsurps!!!

My "custom" SKS. I still have every part to return it to original. Even the "bedding" (shim) job is temporary (folded and ironed wax paper, molded into place while still hot and pliable).

Shoots pretty straight. Bang-flop 1 shot. Ok, it was only 25 yards, but still...

I have a '53 Izzy refurb of which I "customized"

Stock from a '54 Tula non-refurb which bubba sold me. Found blued bayonet installed. DIY cold blued carrier that screams of quality ;). An authentic Soviet surplus trouser belt turned sling loop... sweet! I also found a nice Ukrainian RPK sling with black hardware that completes the look. Next on the "work order" is AK style front sight ears and stock refinish.

This refurb was sloppy from the get-go anways. The gas tube was incredibly loose, so I shimmed it. The bolt carrier had nasty file marks so I blued it. The trigger was awful (more than usual) so I tuned it. The original laminate stock was a complete crooked P.O.S. so I put this hardwood stock on and shimmed it nice and tight. The bore was excellent so it shoots not-too-bad. Plus the gas piston is undersized for the tube so it cycles nice and soft.

That's my '53 Izzy bubba...

if someone volunteers their email and lets me ill send you a pic of my garand to post up ..... just took a cool photo of it yesterday...its not really custom ....cept i changed stocks and sanded stained it ..... looks better imo than the dark stained original stock kinda ....... does that classify as custom ????? ish???

wow that rifle and stock in the above pics are amazing ......... BEEYAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just thought I'd share a couple of my re-worked shooters. (DISCLAIMER) No milsurps were harmed by me in the making of these rifles! First off, my "Sussex" No.4 sporter. I took off the broken foresight, filled the holes, fabricated a scope mount, and added a cheek piece to aid in eye placement when I shouldered the rifle to shoot. It may look clunky and awkward, but as soon as I shoulder the rifle, it does a perfect (for me) cheek weld. Everyone who's laughed at the aesthetics of it, stops laughing after they shoulder it.

Second is my SKS tweaked for hunting. It came to me as a receiver & bolt only. I got a gas tube & piston, magazine (I also have a Tapco 5/20 for it), a spare stock I had kicking around and a muzzle brake, which I've tried and rejected. I filled in the bayonet slot in the stock with a piece of wood glued in place. Sanded the whole thing, painted it flat black, installed sling swivels and a sling, a 2" recoil pad to give my better length of pull , fabricated a scope mount and put glass on it. It got me a nice little 4 point buck last year at about 40 yds. It's fun to shoot and it does OK for close range hunting.

This is my "new" m94-14 bubba'd into a modified m98 stock!
Edit!!! I did not do this to the rifle! I would never do such a thing!
Regardless of the bubbage I like it a lot and it shoots good!!

A work in progress, still need to get the sights / optics sorted out and park the unfinished barrel. Beretta receiver, Criterion .308 barrel and mostly SA parts. Ramline stock, S&K scope mount, SEI break.

I'm starting to appreciate my Belgian FN Mauser .30-'06 more these days. It was made in the 1950's and got the Teflon treatment like a lot of other Belgian guns, including a SAFN 49 I once had, also in '06.

Just about parted with it once till the guy told me he was going to "sporterize" it. That killed the deal.
