Custom or Cadex route

I'll give you my take on this from having both a couple of high end rifle builds and a couple high end factory rifles.
Both my current custom builds and also builds I have sold over the years have been through Insite, and I am not sure you can get a better rifle build, and especially, a better barrel cut and chambered then Harley's work.(Just ask anyone on CGN who has gotten a barrel from him). The advantages of the custom build are the uniqueness and the specific components that work for you, not for a whole range of different people, as a factory build has to be. You can custom fit and tune everything from the stock to trigger to weight to purpose, all to your specific wants. There is a cost for that and it is true that customs may hold less residual value, but to me, that is a very low priority, compared to function, fit and accuracy. After all, you will keep it for years regardless and a bit of depreciation is expected over that time.
A high end factory rifle also is a costly purchase and I do love my Desert tech and AI rifles, but as I have worn through barrels, all the new parts are Insite custom parts and barrels now too. The other big difference between high ned factory rifles and customs is the quality of their barrels and chambering.
There is no comparison between my Desert Tech and Accuracy International barrels and my custom barrels spun up for those same rifles. The factory barrels were decent, and may be fine for most regular shooters, but once you have a bughole shooting custom barrel, nothing factory compares.
Even my current AI AT, has 4, and soon to be 5, custom barrels now, plus an upgraded Comp trigger, so its more custom then factory anyways. If there was ever a Desert Tech aftermarket trigger come to market, I'd be the first guy in line for it. With a custom, you get that Triggertech/BixnAndy right out of the box, so to speak.
Neither carry too much of a difference in initial costs, but the factory rifle may need some custom parts as you go along to tailor it to you? A custom is set up right from Day 1, and doesn't need upgrading as you go along.
I haven't personally owned a cadex, but a shooting buddy has one, and really likes it, so I'm sure it'd be a good purchase too.
No wrong answer here though. The feeling and uniqueness of owning, and even going through the process and research of building a high end build is also pretty fantastic experience though.

.

Cadex would hold their value is well if the op decided to sell. He wasn't asking about a Coyote though.

Maybe in that neck of Canada.

Over here they don’t though, as soon as the box has been opened people are losing 40 percent+

And the PGW was a suggestion, for all I know he’s never even heard of the company.

Had customs, which as stated do not hold their value at all, now shoot Cadex. In the OP you basically want a do it all rifle. No sure you can get that from a PRS gun and a coyote gun. Weight is welcomed in PRS (My Cadex is every bit of 16-18 lbs) vs hunting rig which lighter is better. I however use me Cadex for everything, just have to suck up the weight

I’d go custom action and a mid weight barrel of some sort. Medium palms, rem varmint/sendero contour or marksmen contour. Cadex looks great too quality wise but they look like tanks. I’ve built one custom with an mtu barrel and gotta say I can easily shoot off hand with that long beast of a barrel but it’s not ideal for a do it all rifle.

I would go with an Accuracy International AT, AX, AXMC or even wait for the new AXSR. The AT is a great value. Just get one that;s new enough to have the small firing pin .308 bolt. You would be able to swap barrels in under a minute and there's no requirement for any special tools to do it. Lots of companies turning out AI barrels too. Easy to just order one up, and no need to send you rifle off to a gunsmith.

Good comments everyone I really appreciate it. I can see lots of people have been in the same predicament I’m in. It’s a good predicament I think lol

Hmmm that’s interesting. I didn’t k ow it was that easy. I really like those AI AT rifles, but I can only find one in 308. So basically I can buy a 308 one, order an aftermarket 6.5 barrel and swap them out easily at home? Hmmm I might have to seriously consider that option

There are some drawbacks to an AI. Lots of discussion on the topic over on the hide. Like trigger options, which is pretty much the factory trigger, or AI's competition trigger. The chassis, but MPA does make a chassis for the AT, you'd have to debond the AI, which most would find tough to do to such an expensive rifle. But it could be reversed. Things to consider.

Understood. I’ll check out the discussion on Hide

I personally love the AI AT chassis, they way it fits me. Just as much as my MPA and MDT ACC. All are different though but really good in their own way. Chassis fit is a very personal thing though, so what one guy hates, another likes.
Also the upgraded Comp Trigger for the AI is absolutely fantastic, although very pricey too. The AI are heavier rigs, all else being equal.

Easer to read huh.

Sorry I didn’t know there was a grammar test portion of the site? Hope you are still grading it a B-? Curious what grade everyone else got on their spelling and punctuation on the site too?
There are actually 7 different paragraphs there, by the way. But if you need it dumbed down, no worries, can use all small words and single sentences.
Maybe some reading skills could be your friend too....huh.
(Another little tip for you, if you don’t want to read it and it’s just too much for you, then just don’t read it. There, fixed it for you).
