Hey all I am just looking to get into a custom rifle and wondering what everyone’s choice is for a gunsmith to do so? Any information is appreciated!

If you want to just pick up the phone and order one up, the sky is the limit. Tons of great custom shops across Canada.
Sourcing all the parts and bringing it to a local gunsmith is what I would recommend if possible. I was fortunate enough to have a great gunsmith pretty close to me for my last few builds.
What cartridge are you thinking of? If it’s just a generic chambering then it’s probably easier to just order it. If it’s a custom or less common, then buying your own reamer is sometimes nice for future builds.

I don't think you can get a defiance action from a dealer in Canada any longer since Defiance doesn't want to sell to us for the time being.

The company was just sold and they are not planning to export for some time. They will still honor the existing Canadian orders though. Big price increases on some actions too with the new owners.

I would take a look at Antler Arms in Quebec. I purchased my last rifle off of them and they were great to deal with. They set the trigger to break to my request, cut the stock to my LOP and send a 0.5 MOA 3 shot target with the rifle. Hard to beat that service from a factory! They make most of the components in house. They use to make a lot of components for FIERCE but are building there own rifles in house now.

Yea that’s a good point, any leads on someone who can get me a left hand defiance action? Haha

Try ATRS, I know they have some Defiance actions in stock, and they also make their own actions in just about any configuration you can think of.
I have had them build several rifles for me and they do phenomenal work.

When it comes to building a custom rifle, there's alot to "unpack" there. I would take a good look around for a "turn key" factory rifle first? lots of calibre offerings from Tikka, and as a "lefty" they have several models. Failing that, you can get a smith to chamber up a barrel and action, stock options these days are many, Manners offers a "mini chassis" which is a good alternative to bedding. Spend the money on the best barrel you can afford.

If you can source the parts yourself? like the stock and barrel, that may save you some time and money?
Good Luck, Cheers
