I'm getting out of target shooting and have some guns I would like to sell. Most of these were obtained through trades, etc, and their market value is not well known.

Here's the first one that I'm going to put up in the EE precision rifle forum as soon as I have an idea what might be a reasonable price.

It is a custom Sako L579 action (ser # 537XX)308/7.62mm single shot with custom stock owned at one time by a member of the Canadian Shooting Team (don't know if it ever shot in competition).

The barrel is 26" long and the diameter at the crown is 0.8" or 20.3mm and is stamped with "Proof Tested 7.62mm". There are other marks but I don't know the make or who did the work on the gun.

The bore is bright and the rifling appears to be in good shape - tested by inserting a 308 bullet at the muzzle end and getting an imprint of the lands (real tight fit)

What I'm looking for at this time is a price range for this gun realizing that it might not be that easy.

And you will not insult me by low balling the price range. We all know that any gun is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay.

The stock is hand made from some very fancy wood (I believe Fiddle Maple) and has the accessory rail on the bottom. The total weight of gun and scope is just over 14 lb.

The scope is a Tasco Custom Shop with 8-40X56mm (30mm tube) with target knobs and side AO adjust. I know how much the scope is worth so I will sell the gun with or without the scope (50 BMG comments on the scope can be found at http://www.gunblast.com/JW_Big50.htm)

The LOP is somewhere between 13" and 14" with the butt adjusted as seen. Extending the LOP would be fairly easy by adding spacer between the wood part and the metal.

Picture to show the recessed target crown - part showing the bore is not very good and this is a camera problem.

This is a 30mm diameter scope and not your recent typical Tasco product. The sale will have option of scope or no scope

Barrel maker? Trigger maker?

How many shots down the barrel?

Its really hard to say... the stock, action etc is worth close to a grand. Not my cup of tea, but I think you might get $1000-1500 for it.
