Custom stock makers in Canada?

Good day everyone.

I’ve got a little Browning A-bolt. It’s chambered in the odd 25 WSSM. I love it for my whitetail rifle and it has served me very well. Light, shoulders great and very accurate. It’s got a synthetic boring black stock on it. I want to pass it on to my son and I really prefer it to look pretty. Does anyone know of a place I Canada that can build me a piece of wood for it? Being an odd ball rifle there’s no way of getting factory stocks anymore and shipping from the US is difficult. Plus I’d rather not support them. If anyone thinks of anything please share.

And it looks like I’m a little over my head on this one. For a $7-800 rifle it’s seems I’m looking at a $2000 stock. The Boyd’s for $3-500 was doable but I can’t justify 2k at least not for this rifle. Thanks for all the input everyone.
 
1)call western gun parts and see if they happen to have one. If not,
2)call Boyd’s and see if they make one. If not,
3)check out numrich’s website and wait until they start taking Canadian orders again.
 
There is a fellow here in PG that does some very nice work.
Whether he would do up a stock for your A-Bolt, I cannot say for sure.

Forget about the cost of a nice piece of wood and a quality pad ... a skilled stock maker can easily spend 50 hours on it...(inletting, shaping, shaping, shaping, sanding, sanding, finishing, checkering... a kind of skill that should receive at least $50 an hour.
 
There is a fellow in Sask . that will make a stock, from your old one, he may have a pattern all ready.
If you want to do the finial inletting , and finishing , it will be reasonable.
Finial inletting, finishing is where the time and money adds up.

When you compare that $50/hr to some framers who can't set walls square that seems like a bargain
 
I can attest to the hours that goes into a stock, a guys getting it pretty easy @ $2000 imo.

There was a custom stock for an A bolt posted on the Alberta hunting forum a few months ago, Had been reposted a few times. Not sure if it’s still there but might be worth a look.
 
I've paid well over $2000 for some custom stocks, and I provided the wood.

I'd do check-ins a few times a week, and I can assure you, the average rate is well under $50 an hour all said and done.

Here's one, this one belongs to a buddy but same maker. A true LH stock for a RH Weatherby UL.

Back in the 70's I spent 50 hours just on the checkering on this stock, the forend was large and wrapped around... I don't have a pic of the other side of the grip... it came up and over into the left side...

Probably had 50 hours in the stock as well with the forend tip, grip cap and shaping...

Dennis that is a work of art !Yes 100 hrs is about it ,maybe more for that checkering job .
