Before you jump on me, I put this here because this is the forum where contributors will have experience and tools to do what I'm talking about.

So here it is, I want to make R.I.P. Inspired varmint bullets.

Here is where my inspiration comes from. http://g2rip.com/video

Would it be possible to get some solid copper bullets, like from cutting edge, and have them milled or machined to make them similar to the RIP bullets?

I would think the "fingers" could only be on the ogive. Not sure how accurate it would be, but imagine the performance of a 6mm projectile like that going 3000fps+, as it enters a coyote!

Thoughts?

A bullet traveling at 3000fps from a 1/7" twist is spinning 308 500rpm
A pistol bullet 1200fps in a 1/16" twist is around 27 000rpm.
The diameter and rotational speed of the pistol makes it easy to engineer the desired effect. The rifle bullet would be infinitely more difficult if not impossible to find a reliable balance between performance and blowing up mid air.

Thats exactly what I was afraid of. So to get this type of terminal effect, one has to significanly give up exterior ballistics. I guess bullet manufacturers would have come up with something similar if the concept was sound.
