Just wondering what the general feeling was toward mix and match custom builds. I guess I'm something of a traditionalist and prefer "colour coordination" with Blue/park receivers and barrels to match, or go with a stainless receiver and stainless bbl. What do you guys prefer or do you even think about it? :)

blue reciever with stainless barrels are very common...even the factories have done it...Winchester and Ruger for sure....I'm put together as many that was as color matched....

i went black with stainless on mine to get away from the "sniper" rifle look and more into the precision rifle look. Black on Black just does not do it for me.

as an aside I have a red anodized ar15 receiver coming :)

I've handled several of the Winchesters, nice rifles but still never dropped the plastic...I know you've built tons of the mix and match rifles Rembo...IIRC, I think I sold you one or two 700 actions! Beautiful rifles. There is one I remember that caught my eye and I almost bought it from you, but something shiny caught my eye and....:D

Thinking about it, I wonder if there is any sort of chemical reaction between the dissimilar alloys, i.e., chrome-moly vs stainless?

Wes, I've got one of those lowers coming as well, although I think I'll be sticking with traditional black anodizing. Not to say I'm a stick in the mud! I've got a Swiss Arms Blue Star that I love to death! Gotta love how that Smurf Blue colour scheme blends into nature when I'm hunting coyotes or seals down here on The Rock! (Had to have it though simply for the name...as one of my favorite beers is called "Blue Star"!:) )

Red should be interesting, but if you want to show us just how "secure" you are in your masculinity, why not see if Rick can do it in "Hello Kitty" Pink?:D

If I could get a set of cav arms pink furniture I would do up a rifle in pink... :)

just trying to find it is a pain..... and hello kitty would be awesome to have engraved on it.

For precision rifles I like both the stainless/stainless look and the blued action/stainless barrel look.

For a classic rifle or hunting rifle I like the blued/blued look.

I posted a traditional build as my choice but I should mention that for a rough and tough hunting gun I prefer SS all around with a tough Synthetic or laminated stock. For custom rifles I still prefer a blued action and barrel with open sights a nice removable scope mount and great checkering all over.
For range rifle I don't care and actually have some mismathed rigs.

I've long thought of building a rifle with a parked receiver, blasted stainless barrel, with a nice oiled walnut stock. Think C3 with stainless barrel.
