Customizing a CZ 527...?

This is specifically aimed at a CZ 527 Kevlar, but could apply to other models too.....

As most people know, the CZ's are a bit notorious for the high bolt throw... so it dictates how you can mount your scope to a degree.

Has anyone made some alterations or customizations to get around this by altering the bolt handle angle perhaps, or something different?

Also, has anyone looked at the possibility of installing a one-piece rail on top, to gain better flexibility of scope mounting, and a broader choice of scope rings?


And failing all the above, what is the best combination of rings/scope to keep the scope from looking like a carry handle?

Customizing?? I thought that was for the remington crowd. Why would you customize a rifle that is already perfect IMO.

send it to a smith for a bit of a trigger job is about as custom as you should get

Thanks heavenIsAlie, haven't had mine done yet, to many other projects on the go. I believe the trigger is user adjustable but haven't played with it yet.

the trigger is fine for me, but some people see the need for sending it to the smith to have it smoothed out and lightened.

mostly because of the normal trigger, not the set trigger

I sent mine in to a gunsmith and had the regular trigger lowered to 3 pounds. It was like night and day. The trigger is excellent after having the work done. Clean and crisp. Was notchy and lots of creep when I first got it. Worth the money and time.

I also used the Warne Rings. Zeiss Conquest 6-20x 50mm works very well. Cheek weld was good and the bolt just clears.

sorry to hijack the thread but has any one found that it is fussy about bullets? mine loves 69gr SMK and the 70gr Bergers but 45-50grs don't shoot worth sh!t and 75gr Amax are even worse, the 75's are about 6" with 3 different loads, the 69/70 shoot bugholes with various powders.

Haven't had much time with mine yet. I did find that it was shooting fairly marginal with the usual off the shelf ammo I had (55 grain sucked, 62 mediocre). The only one that was starting to show promise was the Lapua but I only had 4 bullets left.

I have some Berger 62 and 70 grain bullets that I'm looking forward to loading. I'm hoping one of those will do the trick. Again haven't had a lot of time to shoot this rifle and I'm pretty much stuck indoors for a while now.
