All right so i am looking for customizing my m&p9 and make it more " competition ready ". Im looking for an extended mag release, a magwell and extended mag base pads . My problem is , there is nowhere in canada where i can find those items. So my question is :

WHERE CAN I FIND THOSE ITEMS IN CANADA ?

Thanks

What competitions are you going to get ready for?

For IDPA the gun shoots best in SSP and ESP Divisions. You should check the rule book to see what modifications are legal for each division. To save you some time for SSP you can change the sights, stipple the removable grip panels if you want, change the sights and change out any internal parts. You can't change anything external including the trigger and remain in SSP Division. ESP allows you to do pretty much anything you want to but there are a few restrictions so you might want to check them out on page 27/28 of the rule book.

The gun fits in IPSC Production and someone can guide you on what that sport allows.

Each sport is going to dictate what you can do or can't do to the gun. You might want to go play the sport of your choice and find out from those who shoot the sport regularly what they think is necessary. You might be surprised as to how little or how much you have to do.

As far as accessories are concerned, see what you can find on Brownells out of the US. Finding a one stop shop in Canada for what you are looking for might be a chore.

Take Care

OK, I've been shooting an M&P for a long time, and compared to most pistols (like Glocks or 1911's) it already has a magwell that's bigger than most funnels. Same thing for mag releases. I get that guys like Costa run hugely modified guns - but after the trigger gets cleaned up and the sights suit you, I'm not sure you're going to gain anything. I'd spend the money an reloading gear and components. If you want to be competitive, you're going to need to pull the trigger - a lot.

^^^ well put X2 ^^^

I'm on my second M&P for IDPA and this sums it up nicely.

Well They arw not extended but we do make replacement metal base plate for m&p mags

I could easily see getting that - I've never broken a base plate, but I've heard of it happening - an ounce of prevention..... mind you, I still have several parts sitting in bags, including an Apex extractor and a Storm Lake 'Match' barrel with 50 rounds through it. It's easy to get carried away.

Here's my customized M&P with the rest of the family.

The extended mag release and magwell are from Springer Precision in Oregon, they ship North. Apex trigger is from Brownells.

I use it for IDPA (ESP), IPSC (Standard) and 3 Gun.

The base pads are custom. I cut and formed 1/4" rubber and epoxied them to the factory 10rnd mags. I had to trim some of the base pad to allow them to fit with the new magwell.

Thank you ! Nice kit btw!

I know this is an older thread, but I just saw that Springer Precision has a polymer base pad extension for the M&P 10 round mags that works for their magwell.

Or the Springer aluminum pads work with the all metal Pro Mags.
