cut the hell out of my thumb

Can I get you a band-aid? A tissue perhaps?

Bobby Smoothsights?

(LOL) Sorry man, couldn't resist

I've done the same thing - keep in mind your 1911 was made in china, and therefore it hates you

I sliced my finger badly cleaning my Norc M93 .22.

I think we can assume that the price is cheap because they skip a few steps.
Like cleaning up the sharp edges.
As I write this I have a mental image of the workers at the Norinco factory going home after work covered in band aids.

I can understand that the Norc pistols require dehorning, but what was your thumb doing on the rear sight?

My guess would be cocking it. Slingshot-style would make it fairly unlikely, but if he cocked overhand, I can definitely see something getting snagged by the sights.

However, I do not own a norc or pretend to own one on the internet, but I've seen my fair share of "pistol bites".

Just Thursday, my unit ran a pistol range and, even as the "range #####", I had to make a point to tell people NOT to put their thumb over the beavertail or to wrap a finger over top of the slide (!).

Mind you, part of me should have just shut up and let them do it. Five to one they'd only do something that stupid once.

Haven't had or heard of a Norc 1911A1 "kaboom" either.... ;)

That's an interesting point, I'd never really considered that (I don't think most 1911 people ever consider a "kaboom" a realistic possibility with the exception of overloaded reloads).
