I'm thinking of cutting 2" off a 22-250 and looking for some tips from anyone that has had experience at it. Since the crown on the gun is a little rough looking and there appears to be some pitting inside barrel near the muzzle I thought I might try and clean it up. Also I would prefer the barrel being a bit shorter, I'm not concerned with the velocity loss. I have seen a few you tube vids that used simple tools such as:fine toothed hacksaw blade, file, various grades of sandpaper for barrel face prep and brass screws for the crowning. Yes I know I could take it to a smith but I don't want to invest the funds into this gun at this point. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
