Cutting and rethreading a shotgun barrel in ON

Hi,

I have a 24inch vent rib barrel I want to chop to 18.5 and rethread to take chokes. Is this possible?

Who would be good to do it?

Would it be easier for me to buy the same gun in 18.5inch barrel and have it threaded for chokes?

I am looking for options and am hoping I might get some good ones here. THanks

Having a barrel with a rib cut requires a smithy who knows how to do it. The threading for chokes is the easy part. Not all ribs are metal or are attached over the whole length of the barrel.
"...buy the same gun..." Depending on what make you have, you might be able to buy just a barrel with the chokes already installed. Maybe not an 18.5" barrel though. 20" for sure.
Extra barrels run nearly the same price as a whole shotgun though. Over $300 for a Remington barrel. Goble's, in London, has a bunch of 870, 1100 and 11/87 barrels.

I am running a Benelli Nova. Hard to get just barrels. A Nova with a 24inch barrel stands as high as a Remington 870 with a 28" barrel. I like the Nova platform just not the length. :D

Benelli makes an 18.5" rifled sighted barrel for the Nova. Epp's is a Benelli dealer and they have a good smithy. Give 'em a call. They're not listing a Benelli barrel on their site, but they should be able to get one.
