Cutting off a choke?

I want to buy a gun that has a 20in barrel, but it comes with a fixed full choke...

Was wondering if I can chop off the end of the barrel to remove the choke (so I can shoot slugs) and still have 18.5"+ barrel? Is it possible?

I have seen it done many times.. seems to work. You will of course need to remount the bead. You can shoot slugs out of a full choke as well.

Might be easier (cheaper, if you're paying to have it done) to just hone the choke out of the bore...

You can also (for about $100-$150) have it tapped for choke tubes.

I think I would just install the ATI heat sheild with ghost sights...

Just very curious, but what gun comes with a fixed full on a 20 in? If it is marked full, it may allready be lobbed off?

Tamer 20ga...btw what do you mean by 'lobbed off'? I'm new to 'choked' guns

I get better patterns shooting buckshot with an improved cylinder bore than a full choke,it also is more accurate with slugs also. The pellets don't get deformed by a more open choked barrel,therefore the projectiles fly straighter.
My shotgun is an 870 magnum with an 18 inch barrel.
The ghost ring rear sight along with the tritium front sight makes it like shooting a rifle. The slugs shoot to point of aim at 50 yards,I'm hoping to line up a big buck in those sights before the season ends.

one option could be the mossberg bantam 535. it's a pump action 20" barrel with 3 screw choke tubes, vent rib and comes in 20 ga. i believe it also has center bead and gold trigger. price about $316.00 u.s.. i agree with covey ridge, any 20" gun marked full would already be chopped. the model above the bantam is slightly larger but in 12 ga.
