Cutting strips of Aluminium (0.0135") for gas checks

My homemade jig for cutting strips of aluminium for 9.3mm gas checks. I will be modifying it for 30 call and 22 cal later.

I use a laminate cutter to score the aluminium, then use the jig as a break to bend the metal up along the score, then work it 3 to 4 times to snap it off

To modify it for 30 caliber i will drill two holes for stop bolts to hold the material to the correct width for (0.3" of an inch plus 2x the height of the gas check rim)

0.0135" is the best thickness.
beer can aluminum is only 0.004" to 0.006" and don't grab the bullet enough.

Light gauge steel angle used in steel framing is a bit thicker also
10ft sticks aren't that expensive.
Not aluminum but comes in different gauges of thickness

Save yourself some time and make your strips double wide. I cheat and use a princess auto 3-in-1 sheet metal worker, they used to be a lot cheaper than they are now. aluminum rolls can be ordered at most big box contractor desks. I use the 6 inch wide rolls of 0.014.

I've been cutting strips from the inside end of the $50 roll from amazon with tin snips. I might upgrade to a $90 6" shear

Anybody tried a old paper cutter for thin copper and aluminum sheets.

Hardware stores may have a better price on 0.014" aluminum flashing than Amazon. I can not imagine cutting this stuff with sissors or snips.
The device i made from scrap metal and three #8 bolts along with the laminate scoring tool takes less than 30 seconds a strip. A shear would take about ten seconds a strip if set up properly.

Rona didn't stock it locally
It's an hour to get to Home Depot
and Amazon is here in 3 days.
So it wasn't a hard decision

All the stores I went to only had the econo grade 0.0092.
