Found one recently in very good shape, quite heavy, reminds me of a poor man's Encore.

Has a camo stock and the old style breech that requires a tool to remove it.

  • Does anyone know what the difference between the regular Optima and the Optima Pro is?
  • Any idea when this particular model was made?
  • What would be a reasonable price for such a beast?

Thanks in advance.

I have one. The Optima Pro I got on this site had a bergarra barrel, and a bushnell trophy scope and american pioneer powder and sabots for $350.

The newer optima have the quick release breech plug and the cost would be the same without the scope. Optima pro`s are no longer made and they gun you are looking at my guess is 5 to 6 years old. I would pay 200 for the gun and depending on the scope another 50 to 60. The gun is heavy and CVA makes a good gun. Only problem is the CVA guns may not work with Blackhorn 209.

Ask the owner if it has Bergarra barrel on it. If it does it will be worth alittle extra. Really depends the condition it is in. The one I bought was brand new. In the States a brand new CVA Optima is 300 bucks with a scope.
