I bought one just after they came out a few years back. I swapped out the breach plug and bolt face to the Arrowhead Precision kit which still uses LR primer, but the modules seal better and are a bit bigger so they are easier to load. No problems with the factory setup, just that the Arrowhead kit got good reviews so I figured I'd give it a try. I have been shooting the 285gr ELR bullets and have only taken it out to 300 meters so far, but I would have no issues taking a deer at that distance or a little further so long as it was a broadside standing shot. Last years victim fell to a shoulder/neck shot at a laser ranged 187 yard shot and didn't take a step. My load is 150gr by volume of Blackthorn 209 with equates to 105gr by weight (DO NOT MIX THESE NUMBERS UP !!!). I also run a Mil/Mil scope and use a ballistics program and have dope for out to 600 meters. I would never get near that distance here in Ontario, but lots of guys in some western states have been using them out to 700 yards and making good hits on game. So far I've been impressed with the performance and quality of the muzzleloader. It's a little on the heavy side when packing it around, but that's not a bad thing considering that the recoil gets quite brisk with a full dose of Blackthorn. Besides going big money on a full custom, these are a great value for the price.
