CX4 Storm

+1. Or at least it was 300 - 400. Most of the new non-res conversions seem to be going at around 1400-1500, though. Maybe the extra $100-200 buys you not-having-to-wait.
I was at Epp's today, and indeed, the cost for barrel + installation is ~$500.

"What we do is use a Montana barrel blank and turn it down to fit it onto the Storm. The barrel has to be longer than 18 1/5" in length in order to meet the requirements of being a non-restricted firearm. You can get a heavy barrel, tapered barrel, or install a flash suppressor on it.
The cost of the barrel is $525, the gun is $949, and the reregistration is $25."

This is the email they sent me. I wonder if the flash suppressor is included in the overall length or will it make it even longer then 18 1/5"?

I just had to have a non-restricted CX4 so I bought one from a member here. It had an AR flash suppressor and a heavy barrel. I say had because I only had it for a month or so...just couldn't get around the AWFUL trigger...it was not the rifle I had hoped it would be. In fact, it is one of the very few firearms I have ever sold. My advice would be to try one before you buy one. Some people swear by them, I swore at mine. YMMV.:D

ive heard nothing bad at all. The barrels have a AR15 flash hider on them and they look pretty cool. Email ELwood for details. I almost bought one, but opted out to wait for the XCR. Good thing I didn't hold my breath on that one.

That particular carbine had the flash hider. It's not a stock part of the conversion.

Say more. Was it just the trigger? That can be fixed.

+1....it couldn't have been that bad. Did it fire everytime you pulled it? That is what I look for in a trigger. I'd like to know a little more about the problems you were having. Anybody else share the same opinion?

Does Elwood Epps have a website? Does the longer barrel of the CX4, compared to a handgun, improve bullet balistics much?

You'll get more MV but my experience is that 9mm out of rifles is a bit of a joke if you just feed it ordinary pistol ammo. Winchester USA etc. is designed to be used for "plinking" out to 25 yards max., try shooting it out to 100m and things get much more dicey. Trajectory of a custard pie and big vertical dispersion.

If you are serious about using a 9mm rifle as a rifle it requires a bit of thought about the ammo, either use higher quality ammo that is more consistent, or handload it. The faster the better, it will shoot flatter. A lot of people recommend heavy bullets for rifle use, I haven't got a clue why, as it means more recoil due to the mass of the bullet and an even ####tier trajectory, I think the theory is that wind deflection will be less. Well, out to 200 yards with a 124gr pistol bullet, wind deflection is the least of your concerns.

I wouldn't use a bullet with a weight more than 124gr if I were you. The CCI 115gr TMJ bullet is a good bet. It will feed reliably and they're accurate, plus you can cram more powder into the case.

I have to admit all my experience is based on a bolt-action 9mm, a semi-auto will require more thought because of the bolt velocity, etc.

Myself and 410001661 took my 9mm Storm(restricted) to Silverdale earlier this year and tried shooting the 18" gong at 200 yds.
At first we just could not seem to get a hit on it and then he used a spotting scope to spot my shots.
I was expecting a significant drop from the 9mm and was shooting several inches too high.
After a few shots and lowering my point of aim I started hitting it quite easily and so did he.
I guess maybe my standards are lower then some but I think it`s a great little carbine and despite several offers to buy it I`m keeping mine.JMHO:D
Oh, we were shooting reloads I got from a buddy, 4.6 gr of Unique not sure of bullet weight.
