CX4 vs AR-15?

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere already but I couldn't find anything in a search. Also, when I tried searching on Google, all I got was zombie apocalypse practicality which is not what I was after.

I currently have a CX4 45acp (restricted) and I love it. However I've never owned an AR of any type so I don't really have any first hand experience to compare my CX4 to. Yes I realize that the majority of the AR's out there are of the .223 variety and it's a bit difficult to compare a pistol cartridge to a rifle one. I'm just wondering if getting an AR would be a nice addition (no "we all need an AR" comments like the similar ones for the SKS rifles pls) or if it would be too similar to the CX4 to make it a worth while purchase. Thanks.

calibre are different, controls are different, so you can safely assume they are not similar at all.
It all boils down to what are you using it for? if you want to get into tactical stuff yeah go with the AR, if you are just shooting at the line than it really doesn't matter' let your wallet make the decision and don't worry about, you can always sell it once you try it decided you don't like it.

Not much experience with the AR platform ( less than a year), nothing shoot like an AR, i became an addict of those, i prefer the 308 kind but my KAC and MK18 223 are a blast to shoot even at the range, they rule... The NR kind, i now keep for my private lands... JP.

If you don't reload, the days of the cheap (and less than accurate) norc surplus 5.56 is at an end.

...actually cheap .223/5.56 in general has been a disappointment for me, for anything past 100m

Of course the same couldbe said for my 45acp jr carbine, but I don't expect anything out of it past 50m or so, other than lobbing a few bullets at the 200m gong for laughs

But for a platform I had no interest in a year ago, the AR has been a fine distraction.

It's really hard to beat an AR. They're infinitely modifiable (if you're so inclined), the configuration of the controls make a lot of sense and they're just plain fun. Slap some LAR mags in there and the appeal of a PCC is sort of moot since you're going with a restricted model anyway. I vote AR.

i love shooting .45 but I have never been a huge fan of it for carbines just because the bullet is a ####ing rainbow.

i think a 230gr @ 950 and a 55gr @3300 are about as opposite as you can get so in that respect id say its different enough to warrant a purchase if you are so inclined.
