Here I am in South America and today is the day I deliver my "application" (typed letter explaining why I want one) for a firearms license. They do not distinguish between conealed or not. Just a license and that is it. This will be for personal self defense as it is very poor here and at time I may be required to go to nasty places including smaller villages/towns. Most of my work I will be alone save for a few local staff. Part of my problem is my job will entail catching thiefs and frauds in the company so I will likely be making enemies when they get canned, or at least can't keep stealing from the company.
So in anticipation that the police commissioner gives me my permit (he may not), I went to a locval shop to see what I could buy, and checked out prices etc. Police limit me to a 9mm. As I want to be able to import whatever I buy back into Canada, I have to comply with Canadian rules so no short stuff. The only pistol they had that obviously met my criteria was a CZ 110 in 9mm.
What do you guys think of this gun, and do you have any concerns for using it for self defence. I think that if I get it, I would likely carry it concealed in my Maxpedition fatboy. Looks unassuming, but can be quickly drawn and hold another mag. Does anyone know if the CZ110 can be fired from within the bag? Would it prevent the slide from working? Any other comments or suggestions?
As to the self defense in a foreign country thing...it looks like this place is pretty respectful of one's right to self defense. In fact I was just reading an article of how the lefties are upset that someone shot a chain snatcher from behind after chasing him through the streets. The article sighted the criminals mom crying for their baby who didn't deserve this.
The shooter/victim was never charged as it was clear cut self defense of life (and property) and was free to go about their business.

I'm just more concerned about drawing more attention to myself. Walk softly and carry a big stick and all that. Plus open carry negates much of your advantage, as anybody that does #### with you knows your armed and can see the gun.
