Last winter, I said to myself that I own too many .22's.

I came across this CZ 452 American in .17HMR. I had the same exact model in .22lr so it made more sense ( at least in my mind ) to swap a .22lr for a .17HMR.
My previous 452 American was a pretty good shooter so it was hard to let it go.

Last week I went to the range to try this .17HMR, never had one before.

My gosh, I like this rifle !
I think it shoots pretty well for a sporster model.
It doesn't like the Hornady ammunition but liked the CCI and Federal 17gr.
I torqued the action screws to 22in/lbs and haven't played with this yet so maybe I'll be able to squeeze a little more out of it.
Like the rifle, like the caliber, I'm so glad I did this move !
Its also a decent looking rifle ;)

What do you think of the accuracy of my rifle ?
How accurate is your 17HMR ?

Very nice piece of wood and a very good choice of scope as well.
I had a 455 that shot well, but it was not a 452.
My only nit pick is the stamped steel trigger guard and because they shoot so well I overlook this little bit of annoyance in the overall beauty
of a firearm.

Doesn't look good OR shoot well. What a disappointing post. lol

Awesome, those 452s are shooters...and that stock is a looker!

Always a pair of CZ452/457’s in the truck on a sask gopher safari. 17HMR & 22LR.
Superbly accurate and the bores don’t seem to foul, even after a LOT of trigger tugging. But who did you have to bribe at the factory in Chekoslobainia to get such a pretty piece of wood ?? I’m a wee bit jealous. lol …Enjoy !!!!

Nice looking gun , she shoots well too.

Switched to shooting HMR this season , sure enjoy .17's.
Want to get consistant groups under 15mm @ 50mtrs

I have a 455 American in 17hmr. It's such a small light gun to carry. I just use it for wacking crows. Shoots CCI 20g the best I've found.

Had CZ452 in .22lr, It was too pretty to take out in the bush so it sat long enough til I traded it for a new excal crossbow20241008_170317.jpg

I even had a 452 Scout in .22lr that was really accurate, I would say as much as my .22lr American. And the damn thing had only one action screw !

The rifle sat a long time on the EE ( ad without any pictures ), the seller was asking pretty money for it and after some time, he deleted the ad from the EE. I sent a Pm a couple weeks after and we came to an agreement. Very glad I did buy this rifle. I probably paid a little more than its worth but now that I seen how accurate it is, I have no regrets ;)

It was looking nice... and then the WT-Fudge group lolll
Maybe too much heat in the barrel ?
I noticed that 17HMR does generate moderate heat, especially in a skinny barrel like my American model.

Your 455 is also quite nice, is that a beech stock ?

Rob,

Thanks !
IMO its a perfect combination of rifle/rings height/scope for this particular rifle.
Some people say that those Leupold EFR Rimfire scopes are the pinacle or rimfire *sportster* scope.
They are quite nice I must say.

I'm with you on the trigger guard, that's why I would like to grab one of the DIP metal trigger guard.
They are currently on backorder.
I had one on my .22lr 452 American and while expensive, it was really what this rifle needed.
They will eventually make a batch, I just need to be patient.

Here what it looked like with the DIP polished blue trigger guard on my other 452 :
