Please provide feedback on what ammo works best for hunting.

I checked out the rimfire Central site and the ammo they refer to is not available in Eastern Canada.

Any help on what works well and where it can be purchased would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have a style (american w/silhouette stock and nickel finish) it likes the higher end ammo - Lapua Midas M - L both shoot pretty well in her, Master M - L, Eley Tenex, Lapua Polar Match. The lower end stuff shoots alright but isn't as consistent (Winchester T22), Federal Match is alright too. I don't shoot any low end stuff at all (Dynapoint, 333, etc). I believe Peter at Hirsch Precision (E. Coast) can hook you up with any of the Lapua ammo. For Eley, I was getting it at P&D Ent in Edmonton and Gunsnthings in Blackie.

Re-reading your post (my apologies) good hunting ammunition would be Winchester High Velocity HP (Super-X) 40 grains or Federal HP 40 grain HV. Disregard the ammo I recommended earlier they are target grade ammo and not good for hunting. Don't use stingers as they don't chamber well (at least not in my Style and Silhouette that I owned). I haven't tried velocitors yet but I hear CCI minimags are pretty good (I can't find it locally to try it out though).

Yes in the US they like Wolf & Eley. I purchased some Eley Target from Russell Sports in Calgary since they were sold out of the eley hunting stuff. The Eley is accurate but lacked energy plus the power smelled awful after every shot. Wolf, to my knowledge is not available in Canada.

In my ammo box I have Eley Target, Winchester Super X HV, Winchester Wildcat 22, & Federal Premium Gold Medal. I used the Wildcat ammo recently and it's okay. The Wildcat ammo also has Super X engraved on it so it must have less poweder.

Remington Yellow Jackets were the worst & Remington Sub Sonic were accurate but I felt they lacked energy for hunting. CCI Blaster just wouldn't feed properly so I gave them away. I didn't feel the Federal Gold Medal ammo was any better than the cheaper stuff.

I checked out a lot of sites and have not found any threads with negative comments about Wolf ammo.

Any help appreciated.

I have found Winchester powerpoint to be VERY accurate in my CZ452, and i know many other members have found the same! The deep hollow point on this ammo is good for game too.

Just get your self a Paco tool and use less expensive HP ammo that you can customize the size of Hollow point how you like. I love the Win Power points, but they are upwards of $40.00 a brick. if . FS

Mine shoots Remington Yellow Jackets like a lazer. They also have great terminal performance. However, each rifle is unique and you'll just have to try different brands until you find one that shoots well.
