OK guys, I searched through 6 or more pages on this rifle looking for the proper rings to fit the 3/8" dovetail. I came across this thread showing the problem as I see it:

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=464897&highlight=452&page=2

Are there any rings that fit this dovetail properly? The ones I have here with the rifle are a horrible fit IMO(same as in the top two pics in that thread).

There seems to be a lot of mystery surrounding the CZ's and the different size dovetails they came with. I should also mention I am looking for steel gloss rings in medium height.

Thanks!

I belive you need to look for a metric size ring .. not 100% sure

Sorry, that's not the problem I am trying to explain. Copy and paste the link I posted and you should be able to see it.

I will just steal his pics for this thread. Thanks sako6br!

My question is, are there rings that fit properly without having to file the dovetail? If you think the top two pics are proper fit and don't see the problem please don't respond :)

I'm no authority on this subject, having just mounted a scope on a CZ for the first time. I'm fairly sure CZ are listed as having 11mm, but many ring manufacturers will boast that their rings are OK for 11mm or 3/8". One thing is for sure, if I didn't get a good fit, I'd never alter the gun...if only because I'd assume that a gun maker like CZ might have their QC kind of dialed-in.

Anyhow, a 5 minute Google search turned these up when I was looking;
http://www.dlairgun.com/BKL-Mounts.html (the BKL 300~my scope has a 30mm tube) and they worked/fit perfectly. A little high, but the bolt clears just fine.

Do a search on www.rimfirecentral.com
on the C Z forum, where this topic has been beaten to death and then some.
I have a C Z American 22 l.r. and I use BKL rings; I purchased them quite a few years ago..... if I was buying today, I would go for the Burris .22 signature rings;the bracket is reversible; one side for standard 3/8" rings, reverse the side bracket and its good for 11 mm dovetail.... nice rings, a little pricey, but nice.

cheers:)

I used Leupold rings and I'm not worried if there is a slight mismatch in the angles. They have never shifted, nor can I notice any canting of the rings.

If I was going to take a file to anything, it would be the rings, not the dovetail.

I google searched as well, I should have mentioned that. I do not like the BKL mounts and I guess I should have mentioneed that as well...

BTW, the CZ 452 American is listed as a 3/8" dovetail, measured up that way also.

I should also mention I am looking for steel gloss rings in medium height.

Thanks for the responses guys.

rings

Burris makes a rimfire / airgun signature set of rings; they don't display them on their website; but the side bracket is reversible as previously mentioned.

maybe e mail WSS and ask them if in stock, hopefully, salesperson can describe them to you.

I also remember viewing them on rimfirecentral; search Sophia 's thread on
C Z / BRNO forum.

I will try that, thanks!

Burris signature rimfire / airgun rings

WSS listed them on their website for $ 68.99, but do not offer an explanation of the reversible side plates... I think I read about that info when Sophia posted on that subject.

Mid South shooters list those rings for about $ 44.71; hell of a difference between Canadian and American prices!

BKL have been great for me in the past, and mine fit my CZ perfectly. Personal choice.

I've scoured RFC as well, and even found someone who was mounting the same scope I have on the same rifle. His recommendation, and the "holy grail" of scope mounts for CZ seems to be this;

Buy an 11mm to Weaver adapter, and use the Burris Zee Rings.

That isn't the cheapest set-up for sure, but probably the one I'll fall back on if there is any issue with the BKLs. I don't anticipate that happening.

All 455 will have 11mm grooves. So Burris signature or deluxe steel rings for .22 will fit, Warnes 7.3. Leupold makes some especially for 11mm and even tip-off will work. Of couse CZ rings and i'm sure there are some more. 452's american and varmint have 3 8th grooves. Cheers

These are my Fitco "ebay specials" on my 453. They were $8.25 shipped for the pair.
IIRC, the "US" CZ's - the varmint and the American - use standard 3/8 dovetail, whereas the Euro models use the 11mm.

The 452 American has an 11mm dovetail. Millet rings work great and Warne make an 11 mm ring as well as the standard 3/8. You can use Burris or leupold but they don't center right over the action. Bee there done that and have mounted about 50 or more sets on the 452's. However I believe for some reason, but I'm not sur, that the varmint model has a 3/8 dovetail.
