I just bought a new CZ 452 American .22, and also a set of steel Warne 7.3/.22 scope rings.

Now I have read that the American has a standard 3/8" scope rail, but the Warne rings do not appear to fit properly. They seem to be made to fit a smaller rail.

The rail on this rifle measures .498" in width or 12.64mm Are the rings out of spec, or the rifle?

I have a set of cheapo tasco rings that seem to fit the rail perfectly but I wouldn't want to join a $460 rifle and $250 scope together with a set of potentially unreliable aluminum rings. What type of rings are others using for this rifle?

Quiet - you and I have the exact same problem. My rifle is sitting at the gunsmith as we speak. I purchased a set of Conetrol bases/rings and could not get them to fit. The gunsmith will need to cut the bases to fit on the dovetail (this is getting expensive real fast).

He thought perhaps the base was like the old Brno No4 rimfire. Anyway, console yourself in that you're not alone... :)

Lynx makes a very good ring that fits the original Brno dovetail
that you probably have. They are probably available is you do
a post looking for them.

The angle of the CZ American's 3/8" dovetail isn't exactly the same as the North American standard 3/8 dovetail I'm told. I'm using Leupold high rings on my American 22LR and they fit fine. The engagement isn't that deep, but they are staying tight and in position. They are a steel ring, and decent quality.

If the rail measured 0.498 across the widest part, then he has the 3/8" dovetail. 3/8 dovetail is measured at the base or narrowest portion, and despite the numbers, its wider than an 11mm. Edit: All of the American models have the 3/8 dovetail and not the 11mm.
