CZ 452 front action bolt

Boys, I was wondering has anybody removed the front bolt from the barrell on the CZ 452 varmint for an improvement in accuracy? Im talking about the one that attaches to the barrel not the one at the action or the screws that hold the trigger guard in place. what were your results?

CZ 452 not free floated? If you can make the mod to free float the barrel 9/10 it should improve accuracy. But if you remove the bolt and the barrel still touches the stock it will actually hurt accuracy. I have a 453 varmint which comes free floated. What kinda groups are you getting?
 
The 452 has a forward action screw that attaches to the barrel about 5 inches in front of the action. kinda a weird place to put the second action screw. I removed it and now the rifle just has one action screw holding it in place. it seems solid and I tourqued the single screw to 25 inch Lbs. The gun shot good before I'm just always looking for improvement. I was hoping one of the more experienced guys on the forum had tried this before and what theyr results were. Prior to removing the front action screw I could run a piece of paper up the barrel channel to the front action screw. Now I can run it all the way to the reciever. If the wind stays down Im going to take it out and see if shes better tomorrow.
 
Ohh! Yeah that will probably make things worse. Now your action won't be as solid, and some ppl claim that barrels don't need to be free floated ALL the way to the action. I'm pretty partial to a full free float but no at expense of a well seated action. If you wanna improve get a barrel tuner instead. That should improve your groups.
 
I have a 452 Varmint and a 452 Silhouette (which also has a barrel lug, same as varmint) and both of them have their barrel lug removed. Only the action screw remain.
I have great results. Just make sure your action is well seated in the stock and the action screw is tight.
