CZ 452 FS Lux

I don't know if any of the CZ rifles (rimfire) come with DST. I know that some Anschutz rimfires do.

Thank you: I will have to bother Clayton with some questions about the difference between two models on the CZ site before giving him another sale. ;) He was most patient with my questions about a previous purchase of telescope; I wish I could just call knowing what I want. I can't figure out why the newer 455 varmint costs less than the 453 varmint, both solid walnut stock chambered in 22LR? I understand the 455 barrel can be quickly changed over to a 17hmr or 22wmr: That feature would be useful unless other features suffer to accomodate for it.

Compare price of the 455 to the 452, not 453

The 453 has a single set trigger mechanism, the 452 has the standard 4lb trigger, just like the 455.

Thank you, that bit of information was very helpful. (presuming that when you say "single set trigger" it means the trigger that can be flicked forward to make the subsequent pull 'hair' like?) It would be nice to have that option and the quick barrel change in the same gun. I would opt for the 453 then for I intend to use it more for target shooting than stumbling about the woods.(where four pound trigger might become necessary) The issue of price comparing is lower in the pecking order than the features I want from the CZ. The CZ website lists the 452 as no longer being produced, but I understand your reasoning for comparison. I was ambiguous in my previous post and should have been clear about the price difference being one of curiosity.

22LR, heavy barrel, straight comb(for shooting prone), adjustable trigger and preferably laminate stock but the CZ's pretty walnut will be fine.

Will be looking forward to some pics if you win the wood lottery, both my 452V and 455 have nice but plain wood. I don`t care for a FS type stock but nicely figured wood is still king.

Rifle came the other day. Very nice. Needs to be seen in person to appreciate the wood. Has some very nice figuring, but not really easy to show in a pic. I don't think this one will be a "truck gun".

I gave in and bought Claytons last 452 laminate varmint: It is gorgeous! I've always been a solid wood partisan, but this first laminate stock purchase grew instantly the moment the box came open.

This is probably a long shot question, but what ammo does CZ use for the test group target they ship? It's a nice group but there is some room for improvement at the 50meters tested as mine grouped not as well as BobbyV8's fs. See what groups the SK Standard Match rounds yield.

Does CZ offer ten round magazines for the 452? Only one five round mag would be few for a cleansing the woods of vermin outing, but carrying one "tenner" clatter less than two "fivers" in the pocket. I just answered that question with a brief search: Should have added that to my order. New Camper again bolstering the obvious - that hindsight is always 20/20 vision

Congrats on the THV. Have a new one from Prophet too, couple of weeks later added a FS 455. Next CZ purchase for you is ????????

Not sure when... it might be random though as I haven't planned on another rifle soon. It came to my door yesterday with a bunch of other things I ordered and some SK Standard Plus ( I think is the correct name of the ammo) The rifle and ammo worked very well together and although I did the sight in at 25 meters, if I did my part and my eyes and old Weaver agreed, the hardware combination would make pretty cloverleaf groups. This was done with the trigger as it was from the factory, and although it is better than most 22s, a few people have suggested a YoDave trigger kit... so that might be in the nearer future with magazine purchase and more SK ammo. So yes, the CZ looks very good and shoots as good as it looks: I am very happy having bought it. I love the Bavarian stock on the FS, but do I really need??! probably about as much as I need air. ;) Maybe it's like falling in love? You don't realize you need it, until Cupid fires an arrow deep into your buttocks.

Years ago I would have questioned spending so much on a 22: Considering that an Olympic rifle would cost a couple thousand ... and in the process of making my own laminate stock for a T3, my eyes have opened widely to how much more work is required to make a laminate stock.

The past couple days I've only fired a hundred rounds of SK Standard Plus ammo through the 452 and doing my job, with the double crosshair in the old Weaver K6 resolved, at 25 meters that 22 rifle made some beautiful five shot groups effectively through the previous bullets hole: Still using the stock trigger, it feels a little smoother and crisp since first few rounds but that may be my imagination. Regardless, this is one happy Camper and finally photobucket is working again.

The second from right on the top row was four shots, with a fifth far off due to umm, a delicate balance of {cough} "wind, gravity and reflection?" or I just screwed up the shot is more believable and realistic. f:P:
Second row, first from the right is the best group, with the size being only slightly larger than the 22 bullet: It looks larger because of the paper tear, but if I had turned the paper over and folded the tears back in, it would be evident. Distance was only 25 meters: Target dots are half inch diameter. Now to make that group at 50 meters... and initiation a la live varmints.
