We got my dad a 452 Lux in .22 WMR for Christmas, and he was shopping around for a set of rings to mount a Bushnell 3200 3-9 on it. I told him he was probably going to need a set of rings that would work with the 11mm dovetail, and sent him the recommendations from Eric Brooks' site.

The first set he picked up were too low to clear the rear sight without removing it (which he didn't want to do) so he ordered a higher set and is waiting on those to arrive.

In the meantime he took it out for some plinking, and when he was cleaning it up afterwards, he called to tell me the receiver markings say it is a

'CZ 452-2EZKM American'

Soooo....it's very definitely got the Lux stock and sights...so is it just the Lux barrel screwed into an American receiver? Does this mean he can probably use regular 3/8" rings rather than 11mm? It does appear that the dovetail is 3/8" at the bottom and cut to 45 degrees, pretty much the same as my 453 American.

Kind of odd...was wondering if any of you have any ideas as to how we might have wound up with such a thing.

CZ receiver labeling and dovetails are always a source of confusion.
As far as I can figure all of the 452 type receivers that are marked "American" have a 3/8" scope rail.
I have two 452 Varmints one in .17HMR and one in .22LR. The .17 is marked "American" it has a 3/8" dovetaill. The .22 doesn't say "American" it is the 11mm dovetail.

There used to be a good sticky on Rimfire Central that explained this but the link is dead.

Hope this helps..

Just checked my Lux and it does not say American on it, checked my Full Stock as well and it doesn't say American either.
Does your dad's Lux have a Walnut stock? The reason I ask as there are 2 models that are identical, the lux and the standard, difference being the stock material. FS

Yep, its' a really nice walnut stock. The folks over at rimfirecentral tell me that all that magnums have 'American' on the receiver. Confusing for sure, as it is very definitely an 11mm dovetail (had him go measure it to be sure).

He's got a set of CZ high 11mm rings coming from Clay at ProphetRiver, so he should be good-to-go sometime this week.
