Just checking to see which rings everyone is using on their CZ 452 LUX..
which height of rings work best to clear the bolt?

Thanks

There's a chart over at rimfire central that has a list of many combinations people are using. Definitely worth checking out. The ocular bell on your scope will be the limiting factor (as long as your scope sits behind the rear sight on the lux). Letting us know what you plan to mount will helpful.

I got the CZ medium height rings. They were overpriced, realistically, (I think around $75, 4 or 5 years ago), but very well made.

With a Leupold VX-1, the front of the scope clears the tangent sight by a hair.

I'm actually undecided on that as well. I have a 3-9x40mm vortex viper that I can use from my wife's rifle and upgrade her scope, but I am thinking I want something with a little more power, as I want to shoot more precise.. I believe in too much is never enough, but I also believe in overkill as well. I now your all thinking "why is he putting a higher power scope on a .22 and leaving a 3-9 on his wife's rifle".. haha but its for the simple fact that we live in a dense forest area and usually only need to shoot 100-150yds and a moose is a much bigger target than paper..
So what I had in mind was somewhere on the lines of a 4-12 or a 4-16.. I am leaning towards vortex only because they have a great warranty and seem fairly priced.
Any info is much appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks Grelmar,
These are what I had in mind, as I want some that have 2 screws per side.. How would they be if they were the high rings? Would there be a problem with having to stretch higher so you can look down the scope properly?
Most things now days are over priced, but sometimes you also get what you pay for..
Thanks

I have the Talley high rings and use a Leupold VX2 4-12 x 40.
I needed to pop off the rear sight and the front bell of the scope will not clear the rear sight mount, I have the scope positioned just aft of the rear mount.

I use the BKL 257 MB Med height rings on my CZ452 Lux (with front and rear sights left on).
Scope is 6-24x42mm Sightron.
I did not need to take the sights off, the scopes clears it by about 1mm. Works great.

I never like to promote Amazon.ca...but it has been my go-to for WARNE rings for my CZ/BRNO for the last couple of years. Would have never looked there, or at these rings..but they seemed well-loved by the crowds over in the CZ area of RFC and indeed, they work/fit very well..and are very fairly priced.

I mostly use the high ones (clear my Sightron S1 nicely on my 452 Varmint) but have used the medium ones for small/compact scopes.

I think you would end up with the scope too high for a couple reasons.

1. With the drop-comb stock of the Lux, med height rings allow for a good cheek weld. The stock is designed for you to "get down" and line up with the tangent sights (which beat the pants off the new sights on the 455's), so any height above that starts to show, in terms of comfort. Med. height rings are still Ok, but high rings would probably be pushing it.

2. Height over bore. For most types of shooting, practical accuracy is a lot easier the closer the scope is to the bore axis. This is especially true for rimfire, as it makes it a LOT easier to figure out holdover.

^very true. My BRNO 2E (in spite of my eyesight that wants a scope) has the same geometry as the 452 Lux, and it remains as an open-sighted gun. Considered a compact scope I could mount low, but still haven't scoped it.

I use Leupold Medium 11mm rings on my CZ and Annie rifles with 40mm objective scopes... the blued finish is MUCH nicer than CZ and they are lower than CZ medium rings... CZ makes their rings much to high in all sizes. I have never had the Leupold rings move or shift or lose POI. The top rifle is a 1416 with 3-9x33 EFR, the AO ring make the objective bell diameter close to the same as a 40mm scope. For info's sake, the bottom rifle is wearing a VX-2 6-18x40mm AO and required the high rings due to the AO barrel.

You never cease to amaze me with some of the beautiful rifles in your collection. The Tiger Striping on the bottom rifle is amazing.

Thanks Grelmar,
I thought the "high" rings would be too much as it does have the euro stock, thanks for all your help and now I can make a better decision as to what I am going to settle with.

Very, very nice rifles.. It seems that CZ tries to keep all their stocks close in wood grain patterns, I tried to find one with a ddifferent looking wood grain but have yet to come across one.. but when you get in to the 1200-2000$ range I guess you'd expect to have something with a beautiful grain..
Thanks for the input on the CZ rings.

Some CZ's that show different mounting options.
