Hello

Does the CZ 452 or 455 American .22lr barrel have any taper from chamber to muzzle ?
Reason im asking is for .22 Silhouette smallbore hunting rifle competition . The barrel must have some measurable taper to it .

Thanks

Per CZ-USA: "the 455 Varmint features a heavier, stiffer barrel than its predecessors in the 452 and 453 lines. The 20.5” long, .866” diameter cylindrical barrel" implies no taper.

The Lilja Varmint taper. It is .900″ diameter for 3″ and then a straight taper down to .630″ diameter at 21″

Be aware a Lilja drop-in barrel may still require some custom fitment, and they are bloody expensive to import.

Im just looking for a decent budget priced , but reasonably accurate rifle for my self to begin silhouette shooting with . I only became aware of the taper rule this last Sunday when i attended a local range (Victoria Fish and Game) and observed the monthly meet . There was only 3 shooters , so i was encouraged by the members to try my hand with their rifles . Very helpful and generous members . Quite enjoyed it , in fact i will join and compete hopefully next month . And while I've have quite a bit of interest in it , i wasnt aware of some of the details in the rules , such as barrel taper for smallbore hunting rifle competition . I only want to invest in 1 rifle for now , that i can use for both smallbore , and smallbore hunting . And i would also like to keep the dollars down , with the need for a scope as well . And the CZ 452/455 American keeps coming up as a decent rifle for accuracy and quality . I also was looking at a Ruger 77/22 as well , but i think my heart is set on a CZ . Tho im am open minded to suggestions from the members here , as im sure there is many many Silhouette shooters here . The Silhouette bug has bitten me hard

Thanks

If you're going to use it primarily for competition, the 452 Varmint might be a good choice. It's a fair bit heavier than the American. More weight means higher inertia, by virtue of that it will be more stable to shoot offhand.
If you want to hunt with it as well, the American in either 455 or 452 is going to be better to carry if you do much walking. I have both, a 455 American and the 452 Varmint, both in 22LR. I seldom hunt with a .22, but I'm having a hard time making up my mind to sell the 455, it's a really nice rifle.
Which rifles did you try shooting with at the range?

One was a old BRNO , not sure which model , but it had a curved stock , not a straight comb . Very nice rifle ! To be honest i cant remember the other one , it was a name i dont see often , and was a single shot
I had my most success with BRNO , and they both had great optics , and the owners had them all marked up for the 4 distances for quick changes on the turrets and the parralax . It was just sooooo cool , the bug bit me then and there lol
