CZ 452 scout, ongoing review...

I got one and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, same great craftsmanship and attention to detail as it's big brothers. However, I am unhappy with the bare bones buckhorn iron sites, I was hoping for something a little better.
I was looking for something like a quality peep to replace the irons, but I think I may just try to find some rings and scope it instead.

I am curious how the leather bed job was done as well with just the one action screw.

Williams makes a peep for the cz, great sight. I need the rear sight for my scout if you decide to sell yours.

Mikey, don't let the single action screw bother you a bit. I use it on my br rifle. Works better than two. I simply isolated the action from the stock with leather, settled down the harmonics and turned it into a tack driver.

Well well... It arrived this morning and I am pleasantly surprised. I am used to savages and marlins and was not expecting the action to be so substantial. This little guy is rock solid! And the bore is immaculate, very very nice finish and quite clearly lapped. Beautifull! I can't wait until my vortex crossfire II arrives. I know the scope is a bit big for this gun but I wanted something that would do the scouts long range (relative term) capabilities justice. I ordered the 6-18x44 AO lol...

I need to see a photo of that rig when it's done. Been trying to talk myself out of a Scout for some time. :)

Haha... I too have wanted one of these for a looooong time. I'll resurrect the thread after I take it out shooting. That could be a while though... Vortex won't have the new crossfire II's up here till the end of the month at best. But asap, you can count on that!

Anyone who knows me knew there would be pics! :p

There is really no way to tell just how short it is in the pics... It's tiny. But thankfully the LOP isn't too bad. I may still end up putting on a buttpad extension just to get the proper eye relief with the scope. And that massive front sight hood looks worse in the pic than it does in real life. I may still pop it off and tap the sights right off when the scope comes in, but i might have to make the blanks to fill it, as they're probably 11mm also.

Im VERY pleased with the wood, much nicer than i was expecting. And i was very happy to receive it with the polymer single loading block AND a 5 round metal mag.

I LOVE the pistol grip! It fits like a glove and is very pronounced, similar to the rimfire target hunter boyds grip profile.

Here you can see just how beefy the action is. That steel is THICK for a double deuce. Coupled with a threaded in short fully floated barrel, lapped hammer forged and honed bore, semi match "near bentz" chamber... It's no wonder these things can shoot. The attention to detail is outstanding.

More when it's wearing the hubble...

10 shots of CCI standard Velocity with a 1.5-4x bushnell set at 4x. Thick post and crosswire reticle, 25m sitting cross-legged using a stool for a rest. Wow. Mikey likes it! Admittedly the stock sights dont work well for me. the thick front post coupled with the short sight radius made for a quarter-loonie sized group at the same distance.

What can I expect with a 6-18x44 vortex and a proper bench? Lol

BTW Clayne b, this is all your fault! It started with your 500m shooting video...
