I just received this CZ .22 I had bought used. It seems to be in excellent shape. I though maybe I should put a patch through the bore to give it a quick cleaning. I use a J W Dewey rod and it was very hard to push through. Has anyone else ever had this problem. I use the same rod for a 10/22 without any issue. Anyone have any idea why its so hard to push through.

Most CZ's have pretty tight bores, and I have heard the .22 cal dewey rods won't really work in them. Lots of people use the 20 cal dewey rods for CZ's. Personally I use a boresnake that I keep extremely clean in mine and thats about it.

The CZ's have very tight bores. I have heard many accounts of the .22cal dewey rods getting stuck (which is why I bought a .20 cal rod). I believe "_Shorty" on here measured the bore diameter and found the CZ to have a tigher bore than on his anschutz 54.

Dewey & Tipton have .20 cal rods, these work well. If you feel like aggravating yourself use the Saf-T-Clad one in the CZ452, the bore will remove the coating in nice little shavings...

If getting a .177 or .20 rod, check to see whether or not you need an adapter for your jags - some rods come with jags, then no issue.

You can go to your local Chinese Tire and buy wooden dowels to push patches through. They are cheap and won't mar the bore, or you could do the old Weed Wacker trick to make something to pull your patches though, or buy a Patch Worm (I've had one for years and really like it) and use it for different calibers.
