CZ 452 Varmint BR makeover(Range Report)

Calvin,

My friends and I have dealt many times over the years with Don Stith and his service has always been top class. If you're not happy with your stock, you should definitively call him: I'm sure he will fix it for you or he'll get you another one.

Did you order your barrel directly from the Benchmark ?

Regards,

Paul

Stock is

now fixed. I want to thank Bill from the WOOD JOYNT for his classy service;). It even helps when the man is a GUNNUT himself. He did it for me at no charge.:D I owe him one.

"Sell the junk stock
I had one.
Same problem.
Decided not to fix it. No warranty. Will not get another one from them.
Sell it.
Get something that works.
Jeff"

Jeff, I agree with you I will not get another. I liked the concept of it being inletted for the 452 but that far out. Since it is fixed I am going to use it for now. It looks pretty good actually. I will not need another because if I do another rimfire build it will be full blown race rimfire build.

Paul I believe that he is a top notch guy from the chats I had B4 I received the stock. He screwed up on the first one when he made it and informed me. He made the second one and it was shipped. The problem being out of square.

I am not going to bash but I for the life of me cannot see how something like that could be overlooked and sent out.

In regards to shipping it back for another, we live in Canada. You and I know it is a PITA to get this stuff. I am not about to waist more months waiting to get another to solve the problem. It is just a piece of wood that with some careful milling and some sanding it ended up turning out OK.

I ordered the barrel directly. I will leave it at that.

Very interesting post, thanks for the progress report. Sorry to hear about your problems with the stock, that sucks, but a Gunnut fixed it for you at no charge, Now that's the spirit!

I tried to google benchmark barrels but it didn't yield to any results. Do they have a website? I'd like to see what variety they have for the CZ rimfire.

RadarBeam,

they do not have a website. Barrel at this time runs 325.00 + shipping. They have chokes lapped into them.

Been in the barrel making business for 8 years. Are they winners? They have won there share.

Ron Sinema is the man.

cycbb486; I like your project. Looks like it will be a unique item. One observation, if you do not mind: The aluminum bolt handle is going to make your fingers/hand very black if you use it much. If you could get it anodized, it would be better. Just a thought, Eagleye.

Thanks

for the heads up. I will see how it goes. I really do not want to change the look. If needed I will have a auto clear put on it.

Looking pretty good Cal, nice touch from Bill at the Wood joynt, can't wait to see it all finished.
I'll help set up the windflags if I can send a few rounds downrange.:dancingbanana:
I like my triggers light,light,light.

Update on the build

It is presently about just over 1 week away from completion. I have some pics from this AM from Dennis after sitting overnight in the first bedding.

After bedding is complete the trigger shoe needs to be bent forward to fit properly in the trigger guard and the final finish put on the barrel.

All I will have to do is make and install a aluminium buttplate and finish the stock. I am going to make one modification to the stock B4 it is finished. I plan on angling the sqare back of the forend. I will knock the corners off at a 45 and blend it in.

Cz 452

is in the mail and has left BC. :dancingbanana::):):)

Will get pics up as soon as it makes it to my door. I would think Tuesday at the latest.

All that I have left is to make a thin Aluminium butt plate and finish the stock with some Arrow Wood Finish and off to the range we go.

Well after

a bit of waiting the project is in my hands. Thanks to Guntech for the great work.

Here it is.

All that is left is to make the aluminium butt plate and complete the Import paperwork for a new Weaver 36X in silver for it.

If things go as planned I may make it to the range to try it out.
