I receive my CZ452 last week and I put a Bushnell Banner scope 4x12 40mm. the scope base was made for a Baikal and a put a Weaver ring on It. The accuracy out of the box is nice but the trigger is gritty. I will put a after market trigger this summer. For the first look I am very glad of this rifle.

My CZ 452 American sees single hole groups at 50 yards let alone 25!

That's true. I've got several 22's that'll do one hole groups at 25 yards including my son's Marlin Model 925 and my Toz 78. All my Brno's/CZ's and Anschutz's will do it easily. 50 yards is a much better test and also much more difficult to pull off one holed groups, unless you have a really good gun and ammo, perfect rest, very experienced shooter... etc.

My CZ 452 will shoot all five touching with a POS Tasco 3-9 scope at 50 yd. Can't wait for my BKL mounts so that I can use my Mueller APV 4.5x14!

I am also wondering if was necessary to bed the action or to free float the barrel.
The biggest improvment IMHO to improve my CZ452 was to put in the EricBrooks trigger kit, fantastic.
My 50 yard groups are fairly tight, but if I do my part, every 4th or 5th group I can make all 5 shots at 50 yards touch.
Lapua seems to work the best for target and Winchester Power Point for hunting.

Just wondering how your Mueller APV 4.5x14 compares to the A/O Bushnells in the equivalent size and price range? :)

When I first got a 452 american in 17 hmr,the wood metal fit sucked, I bedded the action, and floated the barrel , trigger I left as is, kind of a training method for centerfire trigger control. :D They shoot some nice, had to put good glass (6x20 GS) on the 17 hmr to take advantage of the accuracy at 100 meters.
Got a 1416 Anschutz 22 lr. with a 4 x fixed LYMAN post reticle. :) for 50 meter tgt shooting, and hunting small game.
The Lux is a large rifle, where the American is smaller, seems to me anyway. You bed the Var CZ, you can expect groups like you got, at 50 meters no worries.

The trigger spring and sleeve kit is the way to go. It cost me about $19 Can in my hand and arrived in just over a week as a letter, no customs, no parcel to pick up, totally simple. It installs easily and results in a huge improvement. You even get enough parts to do 4 rifles! (The idea is that you pick the trigger pull you weight you want and try different sleeves until you have taken the creep out of your rifle.)

The only thing I did was install the Brooks kit.

For what it's worth, I found that all ammo shot very well in this gun, but Lapua M was one of the most consistent.

In our last competition, my $525 CZ came in second to a $3000 Anschutz. Talk about bang for you buck!
