Hey All,

I am looking for a bit of advice and maybe a few suggestions for what scope to put on a CZ 452 Varmint (22lr). I'm hoping a few 452 owners will chime in here with what they are using and how their setup shoots. I am looking forward to hearing what has worked best for you!

Cheers!

I have a Bausch & Lomb 4x on my 452 varmint now but will be going to a 3x9 Leupold to compare it to the 455 i bought. I want the same scope on these rifles when i do a ammo check. For most shots a 4x is enough, if you shoot to 100 yrds, a 3x9 is a better and will work for all hunting with a rimfire. An adjustable objective is a big with a rimfire, you can be shooting from 20 feet to 100 yards when gopher shooting.

on my 452 22wmr i have a 7-21x40AO elite 3200. crystal clear at 15 ft and out.
really happy with it. if your walking and hunting its a little much. i like to shoot at 100 and 200 yrds so its great.

Burris FFII 3x9-40. Works great out to 100yd (the max I shoot 22)

Great rifle choice btw. You will be impressed!

Now, you should get one with CZ's excellent iron sights!

Have been using identical Bushnell Banner 4-12 x 40AOs on my Varmint and Style for 10 years. No complaints with the clear and bright image as well as the Adjustable Objective. I can clearly see the bullet holes at 100 meters.

Had a varmint, sold it and bought the lighter (nickel plated bling :D ) Style. Both wore a set of Brooks 11mm to Weaver base adapters.

Then mounted with LOW Millett Angle-Loc rings and a Chinese Reupold 3.5 x 10 x 40mm

Most deadly on gophers in AB and SK. Good times. No recoil so the Zhinese knockoff will last indefinitely. :D

Cheers and enjoy that CZ452 Varmint.

I've been shooting a 3-9x40 Bushnell Trophy on my Anschutz field rifle for a LONG time...and have just decided I'd like a better scope, and a little more magnification. I'm currently looking at a Vortex Crossfire II, 4-12x40 AO

I rarely need more than 9x magnification, but once in a while...it's nice. Depends on the way you plan on using your rifle. If it's all offhand shots, or hunting, you don't need anything over about 9x-12x (in my opinion) because it's well-suited to carry, and the practical range of the gun. Some would say 7x would be enough on offhand shots. If you're shooting off a bench all the time at targets, the extra weight and magnification may prove to both be positive.

Again, just my opinion. Most of my .22lr shooting is informal, off a rest of some sort.

Lower powered non-AO scopes are good all round setups. Higher powered AO scopes are handy for shooting tight groups or long distance shooting. They are more of a pain though for gophering where your prey might be very near or far. I'd chose the scope based on whether the targets will be moving, possibly close and requiring fast acquisition (lower powered scope) or stationary and you have more time (higher power).

I have a Burris Timberline 4-14x32 on my cz .22lr and a Leupold VX III 6.5-20x40 EFR on my .17 HMR cz. Both are great but the 4-14x32 is a nice scope for .22lr. Very clear, bright and fine cross hair with hold over marks.

Thanks all for the great advice and suggestions. I think I will be looking at a 3-9x40 offering from Leupold or Sightron; just gotta make sure I get the AO.
