CZ 452 varmint

Just bought a CZ 452. I put a cheap tasco scope on it. The first day shooting I shot at 60 yards. It was the max distance I could shoot where I was. It was extremely accurate. Bullets all touching. I went home cleaned it with wipeout and a bore snake. Took it to the range and my groups at 100 yards are none existent. I really dont think its my shooting because I can see that the crosshairs dont leave the bullsey when I pull the trigger. So far the best ammo has been the 17gr Hornady vmax loads. Do you think its the cheap scope or is there something I need to do with the rifle. At 50 yards it still shoots great but at 100 and beyond not so good.

17 HMR is strongly affected by wind. That may be a contributing factor.

Why buy a high end rifle and stick a cheapie scope on it? All of my high end rifles are glasses with optics worth almost as much as the rifle itself.

I tend to agree. I have a Tasco on my MKII and there is quite a bit of parallax on that scope no matter how you set the AO.
