CZ 455 .17 HMR - Aftermarket Stocks?

Hello. I'm just looking for some aftermarket stock ideas for a:
CZ 455 .17 HMR,
Heavy barrel

I really love the way this rifle shoots. But I find it uncomfortable to shoot from a bench at my range. I use it as a bench gun exclusively, no hunting. I find the stock too light, and I'm wondering if there's an aftermarket stock that has more weight, mass and length in the forend.

I like the look of the Boyds pro-varmint, the grip, the notch in the underside of the rear stock etc, but the overall length is approximately 32", only an inch longer than the original, and weights about 2.85 lbs.

Does anyone know of a vendor other than Boyds, who makes a 36" long stock for the 455 varmint, that weighs closer to 6-8 pounds?

Boyds one of the very few, perhaps only, maker of readily available wood or laminate aftermarket stocks for CZ bolt action rimfires. These stocks have voids in them, for example in the forestock area under the barrel. Such an area can be filled with something heavy (steel rod(s)?) and topped with epoxy to keep it forever immobile. Such modifications may have the additional benefit of making the stock even stiffer.

There are various chassis made for CZ bolt rimfire rifles. Others who are familiar with them may provide information.
 
have you considered going to a chassis? the MDT ACC has a long forend, and the ability to add considerably more weight internally and externally.
I've been impressed with my MDT XRS. relatively inexpensive, weighs 3.9lbs but can add weights if wanted, wide and flat forend and solid. but I'm not sure if the forend would be long enough for your requirements.

I was thinking the same thing. It’s not cheap, but you can make it heavy and the fore end is looonnngg and flat.
 
Thanks guys, much appreciated. I've seen some of the MDT chassis models at my range, on other rifles. I might have to go with a Boyds. There's nothing wrong with them, I just wish I could have the best of both worlds. I LOVE the look of the CZ 457 Royal - with the longer forend, but it would be nice if it had more of a 90 degree angle pistol grip - like on the Boyds pro varmint models.

Maybe I can order the pro-varmint from Boyds, and ask them if they can elongate the forend. I like the idea of added weight. There's a guy at my range who owns an Anschutz... can't remember the model, VERY expensive, with a Fortner action, the trigger can be set to either 90 grams, or 60 grams. The stock is a GRS, and the entire kit seems like it weighs about 12 pounds. You just touch the trigger, and nothing moves, absolutely nothing. It's quite awesome, but way out of my price range.

Ideally, I think I want a bench-rest stock, wide, flat bottom, huge, and heavy.
 
No Paul, I didn't know they had another option? I just though it was the At one stock, or pro-varmint etc.

I shot a guy's at one stock at my range on a savage. It was cool looking but I didn't like the grip, not pistol grip enough. The pro-varmint seems to have more of a 90 degree angled grip.
 
Among the Boyds CZ rimfire stock designs, the Pro Varmint is most well-suited for bench shooting. I had one on a CZ 453 Varmint, which was shot well from the bench. In fact I liked it enough to get one for a CZ 452 American before they were made for that model, which required drilling a rear action screw hole under the tang area The front lug screw hole in the stock became superfluous. That rifle was a good shooter, too. It was in walnut, shown below.

 
Wow, that's really smart looking. I love those stocks. I think I found the "ideal" stock, IF it can be ordered the way I'd like. My CZ 455 has a 19.5" barrel, the stock length, from forend to the recoil pad is 30.5 inches. IF I could order a Boyds Pro Varmint, that has a 36" inch stock, it would end up looking like this:

Mind you, that's a CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer 22LR 16.5" barrel. But if I could get that stock length to barrel length ratio, I'd be really happy with that. I just find that my Savage MK II thumbhole 22LR rifle, (although the stock length is comparable to a Boyds stock) seems to sit better on a bi-pod than my CZ. The savage feels more front end heavy, and the way the rifle sits - in between the rear leather rest bag, and where the bi-pod is attached, seems to make the rifle feel very stable. It always feels more anchored than the CZ, nothing moves when I shoot the MK II. I just want that same feel, but MORE!
