CZ 455 22lr. Ammo range test with pictures

I've got a 452 American that loves RWS subsonic loads incl. Champion, Rifle MAtch, Pistol MAtch and Club TArget.

All 4 types deliver sub .5in. Groups at 50 yrds...I've listed in order of most to least accurate.

God I love the barrel quality...hope to get an older Brno 2e and add to the family collection

Are you sure the AE 38 gr didn't group as well as the others? My CZ452 loves it. I'm just wondering if that one high shot wasn't a shooter error or rare occurance.

My CZ452 Varmint puts them all in one slightly enlarged hole at 25 yards with that brand as well as equally good results with the T22's. In fact I had similarly good results with several Brno #1's,#2's, and #5's I lined up this fall. Of course match ammo like RWS and Lapua does even better. With accurate 22's a better comparison test on different brands of ammo is at 50 yards.

Another vote!

For 22LR Winchester PowerPoints 40gr Hp. Very accurate in my 455 CZ.
Advertized at 1280fps. Plenty good for gophers. In 22WMR I like CCI MiniMax in 40gr HP.

Just a heads up on the Federal Gold. There are two loads out there. The 711B is the stuff that my Kimber SVT loves. The other 911 stuff is exactly the same as American Eagle 40 grain solids only to higher manufacturing standards.

The difference is more obvious but that's about it. If shooting indoors in winter it's usually a 20 yard or 25 yard indoor range. With the indoor testing you simply have to be more picky regarding the accuracy. I use the 20yard competition targets. They will quickly show you any issues. The advantage of shooting indoors is the lack of wind. You're reducing a major variable and getting down to what the ammo actually does.

Testing 22LR ammo indoors at 20 or 25 yards is very effective. If you plan on shooting those distances. Your choice should also be the right one for 50 yards. Where you often need to pick a different ammo is at 100 yards. In that case your short distance winner might not be the preferred ammo.
