Cz 455 scope rings

I had a CZ 455 FS, with a Leupold 3x9x33 EDR, the only rings that cleared the bolt handle were Talley Highs. (I got them on Amazon)

Remove space between h and t.

I have the VX2 3-9 x 33 EFR (slightly larger objective) mounted on a 455 American using Warne 721M medium rings that I got from Amazon

They work quite well, good bolt handle clearance. You can flip the clamp to switch between 11mm and 3/8" dovetail.

^this. The WARNE 722 (high) and WARNE 721 (medium) should both work, but my guess is the 721s would be the better height. I've bought 3 of the 722s and 1 of the 721 off of Amazon.ca in the last 12 months, I really like them. Most recently, the 721s for a Cooey 600. My CZ452 Varmint uses the 722, but the scope objective is 40mm.

I prefer to deal with my LGS even if it costs a little more, but the Amazon prices were good and they were in my mail box about 2 days later.

I'm looking to mount a leupold vx1 2-7x28 rimfire scope on a cz 455 American. I'm hoping for some advice on what rings to use from someone who is running the same scope. Would these be suitable or to high?

Beware CZ brand rings.
Mine we're poorly machined and screws broke inside at 15in/lb of torque (wheeler fat wrench)
Dealer showed me the finger with a 1-800 number, and CZ weren't more helpfull either.

Went Talley, with no regrets, they are better finished and feel more solid than the CZ rings i had.
You can go high rings as the dovetail sits the scope lower than if you had a picatinny rail.

A 28 objective is small to clear, but i'd worry more about the back of scope clearing the bolt handle, CZ bolt handle ain't that all forgiving.

Edit : Never heard of warne but i would look into them if ever i'd scope another CZ.
If ever you do need close-up pics of the talley ring setup, just say the word and i'll post them up

i'm in the same situation as you but I will be looking to mount a 40mm objective scope. Think high rings will be the way to go for me

Jon

Scope used here is 4-16x42
1 inch tube
Took pictures of objective clearance, bolt clearance, and rings SKU for reference to those who'd want the same
To OP, they would look high with a 28 objective, but still be sure to clear that bolt
I may be sold to Talley, they we're nice enough that didn't require any lapping whatsoever

11 mm in the finish of your choice and get low mounts for that Leupold in 455 .
jonjonm, use mediums for that 40 mm bell on your 455, unless of course it is the euro stock one, some refer to as the hogback one.

I used Burris Signature 420554 (medium height) with concentric inserts on my 455 with a Leupold VX-2 Rimfire 3-9x33mm EFR

The bolt clears perfectly and it's the perfect height.

Do not go with high rings unless your objective requires it. You want the scope mounted as low as possible to clear the bolt and the barrel.

I used the cz rings to mount my vx-1 2-7 28mm on my 455 full stock. Mine has to look over the sights unless you removed them so the cz rings are nice and I had no problems with mine. I wouldnt use them on the american though, lower would be better with the scope being so trim.

Tried the leupold rings first and they looked terrible no matter which way you oriented the clamp.

Thanks for the info. It's a 455 Evolution, so with a Boyd's Evolution stock.

Thanks everyone. I ordered a set of warne medium rings, should be here within a week or so. I was thinking of going with the leupolds but read that they changed the design and they don't sit properly anymore, also it seems they only come in gloss.

Jon, you MAY be able to use medium rings depending on the actual objective bell diameter. I had a Nikon 3-9 x 40 EFR on my 455 for a while, with the extra size of the focus ring on the front bell, the medium rings were just a hair too low. High rings worked ok, gave about 1/4 inch clearance. The usual problem with CZ and Nikon is the large eyepiece and bolt clearance.
Leupold generally has smaller diameter ocular lenses which avoids that problem.

I have a Nikon 2-7 x 32 P Rimfire on order for my CZ 452 American. It will be mounted on a DIP Rail. Does anyone know if medium height rings will work with the large eyepiece that Nikon scopes have?
