CZ 455 Varmint Precision Trainer Camo

I've never seen one at a Canadian dealer's online site. Although few people are ever interested if the price isn't right;), the fact is they are close to double the price of a CZ 455 Varmint. CZ's MSRP for the CZ 455 Varmint is $469 (USD); the Varmint Precision Trainer Camo has an MSRP of $940 (USD). At Bud's, a well-known dealer in the U.S., the Varmint is $433 and the VPT is $836. The 455 Varmint can be had new in Canada for about $590 plus taxes and shipping, so double that and it's getting expensive. This probably explains why there aren't many sold.

The Manners stock is the real difference maker in terms of price. A less expensive alternative is the CZ 455 Varmint in a Boyds Pro Varmint (formerly called Tacticool) stock, the CZ 455 Varmint Tacticool. Even these, however, are seldom seen in Canada. The Boyds Pro Varmint stock in basic black can be bought for a 455 Varmint and is about $240ish (CAD) to your door.

Yesterday afternoon I received a Boyds Pro Varmint stock for my CZ 455 Varmint. The Pro Varmint stock is much more agreeable for shooting from the bench than the standard stock or even the thumbhole stock that came with my rifle. The stock is heavy and has a wider forearm, both of which lend themselves to the bench, and the bottom of the butt stock, unlike traditional stocks, is not sloping, which I find nice on a rear bag.

Still looking for CZ 455 Varmint Precision Trainer Camo or the CZ 455 Varmint Tacticool Rifle .22LR / Boyds Pro Varmint Stock

if any of you see any of these 2 models in the store PM me as I would rather buy it then have to build another project gun.

Have you considered importing from the US? There are a dozen VPTs on Gun Broker.

Yes I thought about it, just need to look into IRG and seen what kind of export fees & crap is extra. last I checked a few years back the fees were not worth it.

I also have looked into just changing the stock which can be done. But the trainer & tacticool models the barrel & stock are fitted to the stock from the factory also the factory barrel is threaded.

I have imported through IRG multiple times. My rule of thumb is to convert the purchase price from USD to CDN and add $300 CDN for import and shipping & wait 2 months :) Prophet River and A.####h Armory are other options for US importation.
