hello, curious if this is doable. I bought a combo CZ 457 Lux in 22 WMR and an additional Lux barrel in 22LR with tangent rear and the hooded front sights.
I love the Lux models with the iron sights but I am curious if I bought the 457 American and just replaced the barrels, that is removed the American barrel without the sights and installed the Lux barrel.
So my question is: is the Lux barrel profile different than American? Will the Lux barrel fit the American stock channel? Too wide? Too narrow? I think it would be in fact cool to have a Lux model in American stock. Ultimately I will scope it, but I love the look of the of the iron sights on CZs. Thanks!

I am only talking about 457 models. I wanted to know if the American stock barrel channel isn’t too narrow or too wide for the Lux barrel. The Lux barrel is quite thin but i think the American barrel is similar profile other than the sights not being present so the Lux barrel should fit the American stock quite nicely. I am not a huge fan of the hog back stock on the Lux models.

I am no professional when it comes to to the CZ although I have a 455 and hope to upgrade to a 457 soon. I like the idea of these being customizable with different barrels stocks and calibers. I would like to customize a 457 varmint to have a 16" heavy barrel which is available on the pro varmint, this too would involve more than one gun but it would be just the way I would like it. It is possible the barrel diameter specs would be available on the CZ website. Some people use a dowel wrapped in sand paper to open up a barrel channel (kind of to bad to do that to a new nicely finished stock). But like the other post said I suspect that those barrel profiles would be the same. Unfortunately I have no proof.

You totally can put the iron sighted barrels i to the flat comb American stocks. Wooden or synthetic. You might think the comb will be too high to get low enough on the iron sights . But it actually works well. I have a few cz 455/457 that I swap barrels and sights, stocks around from time to time . Or just buy an American stock and sell the lux stock.lux and American barrels are the same sporter profile.

This is what i thought. The American barrel is the same as Lux minus the sights. Seems like the Synthetic model is a great deal at $509 at tenda. Then i just swap the barrels and voila! Synthetic model with iron sights.

Is the American the same as the Canadian edition 457?

American and Canadian both are listed with the same barrel length so I suspect the stock is the only thing that makes them different. Ultimately, I have a spare 22lr lux barrel with sights and i want to put in on a gun with American/canadian style stock as i am not too crazy about the lux stock. The synthetic stock has the barrel channel wide enough to accommodate the heavy varmint barrel as well which the American/Canadian stock cannot do without modifications.

Is the American the same as the Canadian edition 457?

Why don't you just buy a separate American stock on the EE, then resell your lux stock? Unless you want to make 2 separate 457s out of your current setup on the cheap, which requires you to get another action, it would probably be cheaper than buying an entire new cz.

Plus, CZ synthetic stocks are quite plain. It's not horrible, but handle one and you'll see why it's so much cheaper than a wood stock version. A regular barrel in a channel that fits the varmint barrel, although it certainly works, looks weird. That being said you could also use a varmint stock if you wanted.

at the moment I only have a 457 lux barrel with sights kicking around and I am looking for a cheapest option to end up with a 457 model with sights in a non-lux stock. The 457 synthetic model seems like a possible cheapest option where I would just swap the barrels and then sell the barrel without the sights.
