CZ 457 MTR .22lr Range Report (Pictures)

Measure center to center for group size. (not outside to outside).

If you look at the jaw position it looks like it is over 30mm, close to 32mm or 1.26, if you subtract .223 it's close to the displayed group on the readout. This is how I measure groups and is far easier than doing math, measure one bullet hole, re-zero caliper, measure group. This method automatically compensates for centre to centre.

Wow... Thunderturds are better than Eley ammo... that is awesome, I'm going out to buy a case... hopefully I get a good lot... something like the 1.25" @ 50 groups above...

Surprises me as well. The TB chrony numbers are worst than the Edge and Match yet they produced very decent groups with the Edge second and the Match did not fair well at all from my MTR.

At the end of the day you go with what your rifle likes best and I only have 1000rds of the TB. No guarantee the next lot of TB I buy will perform the same. It's a nice service Eley offers batch testing at their factory.

Rained heavy all day yesterday with left and right wind was not a good day for testing groups but sure made it fun and challenging hitting the 3 5/8" and 2 1/4" spinners at 180 yards.

Was there a long wait for the Area 419 30 MOA rail for the 457 from GBT? They don't show them on their website, only for the 455.

Other option for me would be to order directly from Area 419 if the pricing is the same.

Don't need it yet but zero at 50 my scope only had 25 MOA left and according to the ballistic app that'll get me to 200 for SS and about 240 with SV then I have to go hold over with reticle.

455 should be the same rail, the rail i mounted from epps is technically a 452, 455 rail

Is it a Area 419 or a CZ 30 MOA rail you got from Epps? I like the bubble on the 419 but not needed since I have one mounted on the scope for better eye alignment.

They actually had some made, dont think it is canted, can just use signature zee rings and get 20 moa shims. The rail was only 40 not sure what the area 419 rail goes for but looks pricey. The bubble is a nice touch though

Thanks for the info. I'll look into a little further.

Overall I don't need the base just yet as all I have right now is a 180 yard path I cleared from the front deck of our cabin.

Willing to bet when you shoot those same rounds at 100 to 200 the results would open up huge and you would flip on the thunderbolts. Fun round to plink with, looks more like a shotgun at range. Seems the eley edge and match were very flat groups, the edge is known for random fliers not sure why

I was hoping to do some formal 100 yard groups last weekend but as we both know the weather was crappy so just plinking at the spinners.

I ended up buying the last Area 419 30 MOA scope base GBT had in stock. Very nice Sunday service... FB messaging and they responded very quickly and the base shipped out today.

The weather looks very promising this weekend so I'm hoping to do some testing at 100 yards. At the end of the day I'll shoot what ever shoots best out of my MTR.

Thanks for sharing all this 457 Love! Hahahahaha

I’m a 455 fan boy and I’m still working on testing 22 ammo brands , all great fun especially with my wife blasting clay birds with my CZ Synthetic Sporter Barrel.

Cheers, Barney

Go Big Tactical got them in right when I bought my MTR. They will have more in April. Along with the 419 bolt knob. Really nice rail. Definitely worth it.
