Well, I finally crumbled and bought a nice new CZ 457 .22 at the Moose Jaw show from Darren, Avonlea Gun Traders. It is an American, std barrel. I have a nice little Leupold scope waiting to be installed. It will get christened in the gopher fields this year! :)

Here it is in all its finery. Leupold Freedom Rimfire 2-7 w/ Leupold rings/bases. Just needs sighting in and then - look out gophers!

Congrats, you won’t be disappointed.

Lot’s of upgrades available if you want to go that route as well.

I have 9 455's and a FS 452. I am quite happy with them. The 455's get a good workout during gopher season. Other than cleaning and dealing with proper action screw torque, they are all pretty much as they came out of the box. The 457 will get a nice little Leupold scope and see duty in front line gopher defence. I have strong hands, so triggers will stay they way they came. I liked the wood on the 457 that came home with me.

CZ makes nice rimfires and keep the prices reasonable, too.
 
The first gun I purchased when I got my PAL over 3 years ago was a CZ 455 Supermatch XII, it's an excellent gun and my first choice for gophers. I often take it over my semi-auto's because I just enjoy shooting it that much. The action is smooth and locks up real nicely. I haven't adjusted the trigger out of the box it's perfectly suited to me. The stock is very nice, as well as the finish on the barrel and receiver. My only complaint with it is the inconvenience of using an optic. The bolt throw means you have to mount the scope high but the comb on the stock is quite low and meant for iron sights, but I've gotten used to the "jaw-weld" and will probably get a cheekpad/riser once I got the right scope on it. Currently using a vortex viper 3-9x40 but it's made for centrefire rifles, I'm thinking I should get a Leupold rimfire scope once I got the money saved up as I've heard they got very clear glass.

The CZ457 solves the optic problem with the 60 degree bolt throw so I've been considering adding one to the safe.

You have nine separate models of 455's? Like nine different guns? That's dedication. I thought I was doing good with a 452 Ultra Lux, 455 stainless, 457 MTR Varmint, and 512 semi auto wood stock.

Yes, all different, all standard blued barrels. Canadian .22, .22mag, .17hmr, American .22, .22mag, .17hmr, American Red .22, Bushman Special .22, St. Patrick's .22. They all get used at various times for gophers. I can see myself going down the rabbit hole and getting a 457 Canadian .22 to keep the 457 American in line! :p
 
I have a 457 Canadian, great action, nice beech stock, solid build quality, it’s a really good rifle for the price. I was waiting for the 457 Camo S/S, and when i finally held one. I was mildly disappointed. Too bad, I really wanted to like it.

You are doing good! You have some nice guns there.
 
I started with a Savage MkIIFV. Bought it for like $200. Put a Bushnell AO scope on it that was worth more than the gun, the sling, bipod, extra mags and every round of ammo I ever shot out of it. I could draw smiley faces on targets with a jagged mouth.

Then I got a CZ455. Put the Bushnell on that. I could draw a smiley face with expressions: frowns, smiles, straight lines.

Then I got an Anschutz 54 and a Leupold. Now all I draw are small circles. Very small circles.

If I had to do it again, I would have gotten the Anschutz and the Leupold from the get-go: buy once, cry once.
 
My 457mtr is my favourite 457mtr.

A little heavy, but maybe that's the reason if shoots so well.
 
Jefferson's right. Don't set yourself up for Seller's Regret. You may decide to keep both for alternate shooting days !!
 
I've yet to shoot my new 457, but I'm looking forward to it. Certainly a more handsome gun than the T1x, but I have a tough time imagining it'll be more accurate. :)

I agree. Keep them both. They will be your guns to do with as you please.

I rarely sell any of my good stuff. Rarely, as in never! I shoot all my 455's, alternating through the pile. Not a calculated effort, but I do try to go by the hang tags I record the last cleaning date on.
 
I just bought an American 457 with the 24” tube, topped it with a 2-10 Burris, can’t wait to try it out.
