CZ 457 Varmint Match Barreled Action

The 457 came in today, tried running the bolt in the action, a little bit frustrated though, was expecting a better action fit and finish , a little bit rough, maybe a little polishing will improve, the Tikka was way more smooth,

Both my 457 show a lot of wear on the bolt bodies, sort of looking like groves caused by some possible burrs in the bolt channel but they really smoothed out after a few boxes of ammo. Both were not very smooth from new. My 455 yellow kanel with fly weight trigger is smooth as butter and the bolt doesnt seem to show the wear pattern as the 457.

Does anyone know where or if i can purchase just the 457 action alone? Have barell, chasis, magazines, just looking for action only. I thought of buying the cheapest 457 rifle for the action to serve as a donor but i wish i could just buy the action alone.

Why not buy the MTR barreled action and simply sell the MTR barrel? If the price is reasonable, there may be some CZ 457 Syntetic owners that might be willing to pay for an upgrade without going to a full blown Lilja or IBI.

Are these barreled actions the same parts that would have otherwise been fully assembled and sold as a complete rifle? If so, maybe there is some fitment and finishing further down the full rifle assembly process that these actions miss out on? Just a thought.

Hard to tell

No, the XRS was back ordered, just came in this week. Did some polishing with the bolt and now much smoother than when received it, relpaced the trigger spring too and a little tuning on the trigger

That's good to hear. If you think of it, it would be great if you could post an update/general impressions here after you have a few hundred shots through it.

As mentioned on my other post” 457 Ejection issues “, the rifle shoots very good, although my shooting sessions was not that intensive but it shows great potential aside from the ejection issues , the SK std plus was printing 0.6” at 100, the SK Long RangMatch was around .9”, 2 five shot group each ammo, XRS chassis, 419 bolt handle, Yodave Trigger spring, PST2 5-25 on med rings.

Thanks for the update. I ordered one of the barreled actions so hopefully I get as lucky or maybe a bit luckier. haha

When you receive it put some grease on it and cycle the bolt for an hour here and there the bolt is really stiff compared to the tikka.ive put in a few hrs running my bolt still a ways to go.

I took out the high points with a fine stone, this way it will match the other mating parts, if let the parts rub by itself with the high points, it just creates a burr although it my feel like getting smoother, it the same process I do when fitting a frame/ slide on all my 1911, it very tight but smooth, all rails are flat and smooth.

Just to add, happen to get hold of new 10 rnds metal mags today, did some loading/ unloading and it working better, noticed a slight difference between the 5 rnds that came with the action, the rear part of the 10 rounders just behind the follower there a little Tab, and the follower is below the lips, while the 5 rounds that one that giving me some ejection issue its follower is at level with the lips, one range session with this and will decide its fate. Lok

Good to know. I've got a couple 10 round metal magazines coming too. That reminds me of the issues I had with my 9mm AR a while back. I sent it in to a gunsmith assuming they would work on the rifle and the solution was actually tuning the magazines instead.

The factory 5rd and the other 10rd mags that I purchased, both plastic and steel have performed 100% for me when my 457 was in the OEM stock and even after swapping out to an MDT ACC chassis. No issues ever.
