I was fondling a tikka t1x a few weeks ago and I did really like it. There were a few thing about it that turned me off a bit though. So I looked at a few comparisons online between it and the Cz .457. And decided I would wait for a 457.

I looked all over and couldn’t find one in Canada anywhere, then out of the blue they popped up on Cabela’s it all places for a couple days. So I ordered it ASAP.

It took forever for them to get my pal verified due to a major backlog but it randomly showed up today before I even got a shipping notice.

I looked it over a bit and I’ll say if you are on the fence between a t1x and 457. I’d go with the 457. Of course I can’t speak for accuracy. However the factory test target it quite good.

Just some highlights: First off the bolt throw is much shorter than my 455 but not as short as the T1x

- the stock is great, love the walnut. It has a nice high comb and the laser stippling is much nicer than the internet suggests!

-my varmint barrel came threaded 1/2 x20

- the bluing is more of a matte finish but seems very even and high quality.

-the trigger is fully adjustable. I’ll try to adjust it down tonight if I get time

- the top of the receiver has dimples for the set screws on a rail adapter to sit in which is an improvement

-the trigger guard and bottom metal is very nicely made and shaped compared to my 455

Overall the gun feels well made and very nice all around

In my opinion. She’s a keeper. Now to wait until I can get a rail ordered for it

Thanks JD

Watch out for those Area 419 rails, the 30 MOA one is super duper tall, no way you will get any kind of cheek weld on a factory stock 457 with the A419 30MOA rail.

I bought the 457 Mtr because I loved the stock , as well as every thing
else . Bought a boyds in one stock still in the box as he Mtr is - nicer, more
everything ..

I love the 457. Here it is beside my 557.

My bolt needed some massaging, it was very tight and a little scratchy when I got it. Now it's perfect.

I personally find the rifle very comfortable. I have the 15 MOA rail with some low rings. We'll see how that goes.

One thing they could have done better is the puny mag release. I have an extended one to put on.

Overall I'm happy with it.

Great looking rifle, I’d buy one if I can ever find it in stock. I’m still enjoying my 453 varmint in the mean time.

Mine looks almost identical to that.

I have made multiple hits on a 2/3 IDPA steel target out to ~440 yards with el cheapo Federal ammo.

I picked up something a little more quality to see what it really can do but haven't made it to the range yet.

What is everyone running for scopes on these?

I've since added the 419 bolt knob as well. What a pain the original one was to remove. Use heat, for anyone interested.

Mine is also a .17HMR, and wears a Diamondback Tactical 6-24. The 557 does as well. I don't have the best eyes, so I like to be able to see.
