CZ 512 American 22mag...thoughts?

I`m considering one of these semi autos. Doesn`t seem to be much availability on them. I`ve looked at a used older one with the beach stock and sights...the American version appeals more to me, with the Turkish walnut/no sights. Looking for opinions,accuracy and which ammo did best...experience and any thoughts on steel or polymer mags.

I have a 512 that is my favorite gopher exploder. It is super accurate with CCI 30 gr Maxi Mag or V-Max rounds. At 2200 FPS they pack more punch than my .17HMR and are not affected by wind as much. The 2 complaints I had with mine were the cheesy plastic charging handle and the trigger pull was over 5 lbs and rough. I removed the trigger and hammer and gave them a light polish with 800 grit sandpaper and then crocus cloth and got the trigger pull down to about 3.5 lbs. I also machined an aluminum charging handle with a little more length to replace the plastic one. I have a couple of other .22WMR rifles but this one is the most accurate by far. Just as accurate as my Ruger .17 HMR I would say.

I just ordered the 512 .22 WMR in the carbine model from I run guns. Couldn't get it up here as it's a limited production model and wasn't released in Canada. Should be here Monday and I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas . It's got a 16 1/2 inch threaded barrel and the beechwood is stained almost black making it look pretty cool. Don't know where your located but Al Flahertys in Toronto and Prophet river in Alberta are both CZ dealers and should be able to get you whatever is available up here, otherwise you could go the same route I did of your looking for something they can't get.
