I would like to order one of the two tomorrow and i cant make up my mind. I'm looking for accuracy and I'm mounting a scope on it for sure. thanks

I can tell you my thompson center r-55 is more accurate than my cz 452 bolt, can't comment on the cz semi. TC is using a $400 shillen match barrel hard to beat, and way underrated. Don't get me wrong, I love my CZ

I bought a TC yesterday, scope mount today, turns out I need different rings so can't comment on shooting it yet.

Did want to clear one thing up though...they don't use Shilen barrels. TC make their own. Now, if you put on an aftermarket that's something else. But the stock barrel is TC's version of 'match grade'.

I'm hoping mine shoots great.

might want to notify the Canadian gun rep for Thompson of this information as he is the one who confirmed with me that the Stainless barrels on the R-55 all weathers are match shilens, not Thompsons. the blued barrels may be Thompsons. Either way they are super accurate.

I have a CZ-511 and I couldn't be more happy with the accuracy, and reliability of mine. No feeding issues whatsoever like some of the other 511's were supposed to have. I've put a lot of rounds through it and it's never failed to fire once.

I'm not sure what changes they've made with the 512's but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

I've always wanted a Thompson R-55. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one either.

I too have a CZ 511 and haven't had any issues with mine either, I really like mine. I owned a Silver Lynx (predecessor to the R55) it was a nice rifle, it shot and functioned very well, I just like the CZ better. Due to it's design, I am a little skeptical that the 512 will be as accurate as the 511, but I guess we won't know until someone does a review of both rifles.

Just for those who dont know just yet it is available in Canada both in 22lr and 22mag. In the US well... Not as far has I know.

Might want to confirm that, as there are some barrels made IN CONSULTATION with Shilen, not actually made by Shilen.

In the end it doesn't really matter, it is the results that count.....

so i ended up getting the cz 512. Very happy with the accuracy of it. it likes to be cleaned every 200 rounds or so. you can see the groups spreading out and one pull with the bore snake and they tighten right up again. this thing shoots better dirty than my target 10 22 did clean. nice fit and finish and comes apart easily for cleaning. ive been getting sub one inch groups at 100 yards with the better ammo and no wind. downsides are the trigger pull and the giant white numbers on the side. i did some tweaking but could only get it down to 4.5 pounds for reliable functioning. havent seen any trigger kits yet but i will keep checking around. I also found that the ten round mag from my 452 fits it. Also the sights come off easily for scope mounting. nice gun
